The Lizard To Be The Villain In Spider-Man Reboot?

The Lizard To Be The Villain In Spider-Man Reboot?

The next villain we could see in the Spider-Man big screen rouges gallery could be Dr. Curt Connors himself, aka The Lizard. Plus, an update on the Jamie Bell as Parker rumor.

This rumor comes from the same sources that reported that Jamie Bell was close to nabbing the role of Peter Parker. This time its all about the bad guy. Bleeding Cool claim that despite The Lizard being the fan favorite villain in the ongoing Sam Raimi saga which is of course now scrapped, the scaly one will appear in Marc Webb's rebooting of the story.

After yesterdays news that Michael Fassbender may have been approached to play the villain in the new Spidey movie, its possible(if either or both of these stories even hold water of course) that he may be playing Curt Connors, who we hjave previously seen in Rami's films played by Dylan Baker.

The site also has some further info on the Bell rumor...

I’m told that Jamie Bell was scheduled to fly into California this week. The plan is that he will be undergoing a few weeks of camera tests while simultaneously working with a personal trainer to ensure he is able to perform some of the more spider-like stunts that will be required of him. However this is being considered a formality.

As for Josh Hutcherson, previously much favoured, I’m told that he may be caught in an option on a previous movie deal and, as a result, may not be available for any web swinging.

Frank Dillane is still being considered for the role, but he appears to be Sony’s back up plan. Unless something goes very wrong, I understand that Bell will be playing the Spider-Man role. To the extent that Jamie has been heard referred to as Spider Man in casual conversation around Sony.

And they wonder how these things leak…

Since Bell's rumored securing of the role and this new report of The Lizard being the villain comes from the same source, its likely that they are either both true or both complete tripe! Anyway, let your fingers do the talking and confirm or debunk below.

I don't see that is possible, since everything that has been rebooted, reimagine, relaunched ---whatever. No one has been cast that has been envolved in a reboot.

Wouldn't Michael Fassbender be kind of wasted on a villain that's going to be mostly special effects? Give him a chance to be sinister in action. The Lizard definitely needs to make it to the screen, though.

LIZARD FTW!! put in a kingpin teaser, and you've sold me

I hope they make the lizard out of practical effects rather than all CGI..just hire Rick Baker or K.N.B to give us a real looking Lizard

Still not a fan of it being rebooted, but having the Lizard in it is definitely a step in the right direction. :)

MassExecutions1- Yes, he totally would be. And if they go with Lizard, i really REALLY hope they'll incorporate Kraven in the mix for a hunt through the city concept. IMO, it's the only way to make The Lizard's concept appealing at all for a full feature film, let alone make Kraven appealing as well. On their own, both characters are really lacking. The triangle hunt should be ON!!!

GERARD BUTLER FOR KRAVEN THE HUNTER!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't go with a previously seen villain even though its a reboot. The other movies were not that long ago. Its like Batman Begins. New story, but first time around we got villains we hadn't seen before.

If in this rebooted series Peter Parker is now in high school, how will Curt Connors, a college professor, fit into the series as a villain?

While I am sick of Raimi's formula of good-hearted-scientist-who-knows-Peter-who-gets-superpowers-and-then-becomes-evil-and-fights-Spider-man, one of the great things about the lizard is that Spidey always has to hold back because he knows Curt Connors and his family.

I detest Raimi for turning Green Goblin into 1.) a father figure to Peter so Raimi could crib from Empire Strikes Back, "Luke I am your father," and for turning Green Goblin into a power ranger. I detest the fact that he used Doc Ock as a sympathetic mentor prior to being consumed and turned evil by his invention. Now, the lizard character's most powerful element is kind of ruined.

Is it gonna be the mindless Lizard, or the take of over the world mutate everyone else Lizard? If mindless it may need Kraven, like Shaman said. Does anybody even remember the intelligent lizard?

THE LIZARD should be the main villain in SPIDER-MAN 4... with GERARD BUTLER as KRAVEN dammit! : P

A REBOOTED CONTINUATION!!!

(Just with DYLAN BAKER and the original JJJ though lol! : D)

How they gonna have the lizard with the tiny budget this movie has got
DDD
DDD - 6/9/2010, 7:12 AM
If it's the Lizard then it kinda makes sense that
they would get a skinny guy like Fassbender
who they could put some prosthetics on and combine
with CG for a more realistic lizard-like human!

That's what I would like to see in THE LIZARD. Like
BlackAirs@ mentioned!
DDD
DDD - 6/9/2010, 7:13 AM
I can just see Fassbender doing a very feral
Lizard-man!

DDD - 6/9/2010, 7:16 AM
You're right, of course, Leee@! But that's
so over ever coming back again!

Besides I doubt if Maguire would come back
if they asked him!

I know you said RAIMI REBOOT but even with a new
Parker I don't think it's ever coming back!
Unfortunately!

Screw this reboot, Dylan Baker should be the Lizard and it should be Spider-man 4. I agree with Gerard Butler as Kraven. I hope this reboot thing fails on all levels.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Gerard Butler as Kraven!!

Yep , i think this is a good villain for the reboot, though i think dylan baker would fit the profesor better.

I'd actually be ok with Jamie Bell as Spider-Man (although I still wish we were getting a proper movie instead of this teeny-bopping reboot!) but cant say I'm too interested in having the Lizard as the main villain. I admit that it would be cool, but nowhere near as awesome as Electro or Scorpion would be IMO! :P
StephenJ
StephenJ - 6/9/2010, 9:13 AM
if this is the case, id much rather it be Spider-man 4 than a reboot.. Dr. Conners has been in all of those movies or at least mentioned.. if this is true then Id actually rather see the old cast back! if not the on to the reboot

What a bitch slap to Baker! This movie is beginning to get interesting, assuming all this is true.
Ranger14

Jamie Bell is my main concern. I really hope he doesn't get the part. I am not much interested in a reboot in the first place, but if they cast this pointy-nosed, big-eared goof as Parker, I won't even rent the movie.

It has potential but I'm not so sure about this choice.

Edit: And if both rumors are true, I hope Fassbender goes for Magneto.
