WEDNESDAY Breakout Star Emma Myers Hopes To Play Live-Action Spider-Gwen In Future SPIDER-MAN Movie

Wednesday lead star Jenna Ortega has understandably received a lot of attention for her work in the Netflix series, but Emma Myers was just as impressive. Now, she's shared her hopes to play Spider-Gwen...

Wednesday has quickly emerged as one of Netflix's most popular shows, with Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams earning a lot of praise - and a well-deserved Golden Globes nomination - for her fantastic performance. However, every bit as impressive was what we saw from Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair.

With a new trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse set to be released later today, a recent interview with the actress has started receiving a lot of attention online.

Talking to Elite Daily, Myers was asked about her dream roles, and shared her hopes to one day play Gwen Stacy. "If they ever made a live-action Into The Spider-Verse, I would love to play Spider-Gwen," she enthused. "I would shave my head; I would dye my hair. I feel like that would be incredible."

The actress definitely looks the part, and it's been too long since we last saw Gwen on screen. Emma Stone played the character in The Amazing Spider-Man, but the character was killed off in the 2014 sequel. MJ, a new take on Mary Jane, has served as Peter Parker's main love interest in the MCU, though that could change in the next trilogy.

Spider-Gwen is a character who would really benefit from the live-action treatment, though there's another project Myers would love to be part of.

"There’s this book called Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, and there’s a girl in it named Door," she says. "That is like my ultimate role - I would murder somebody for that."

As you might expect, it hasn't taken long for fan renders of what Myers might look like as Spider-Gwen to surface online, and we'd say the image below proves how perfect she'd be for the role.

What do you guys think?

@Demigods - totally agree, this girl has some great acting chops. She brought such energy to her role in Wednesday. She'd be pretty great as Spider-Gwen.

While she does look the part I just hate how some outlets (including this one) are pushing for actors to take on certain roles based on them cosplaying. Same as it's annoying to see actors do this by pushing their fanbases to pressure studios into casting them.

What fans generally don't know:
If a fanbase is pushing for a certain performer to take up that certain role this gives the actors agents a LOT more leverage to put over studios and demand higher paydays, which often tends to break apart the negotiations.
So if you really want someone to take on a role...it's better to not shout their name into the ether called internet as their scummy agents will ruin it for you.

Dylan O'Brien was in the run for Spider-Man but the fan-push made his agents go high with power and confidence. They demanded a ridiculous payday (along the lines of Evans for Cap2) and talks fell through and we ended up with Holland. (source: trust me bro)

@Blergh - oooo trust me bro is the best source. As much as I love me some trust me bro, Sarah Finn is just goddamn good at what she does. If she cast someone I trust they're right for Marvel's vision.

No thanks. She sucked in Wednesday so much they should've called her character Monday because we all hate Monday's amirite?

I like her performance on "Wednesday" but hadn't really thought of her as a live action Spider-Gwen. Could work though. I'm open to it.

@FilmGuy7878 - Isn't she on the short side for Supergirl at 5'5"

I would go with Nora Arnezeder...

I'm still kinda hoping they can convince Emma Stone to play Spider-Gwen and for her backstory to basically be a What If...? version of TASM where she got Spider-powers, Peter became the Lizard and she couldn't save him BUT if they went with a completely fresh take with a new actress in the role (which seems much more likely) then yeah I could totally see Emma Myers in the role.

She'd be great! They'll never cast her.

Outside of Secret Wars, I really don’t see this character fitting into live action movies. The more spider people there are, the less special each one is.
