Margot Robbie Says 'Harley Quinn' Is "Weirdly Endearing And Fun To Watch"

David Ayer's Suicide Squad will be the film that establishes the villains of the DC Film Universe, and among them is fan favorite Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). Not only will we get to see her origins in Suicide Squad, but we will also get to see the film explore the mad doctor's relationship with and without the Joker (Jared Leto).

But what makes Harley Quinn so special and loved by so many? Well, according to a recent interview with Vogue, Margot Robbie believes it's because it's fun to watch crazy. “She doesn’t even have superpowers,” explains Robbie. “She’s just a psychopath who runs around gleefully killing people—she finds joy in causing mayhem, which makes her weirdly endearing and fun to watch.”

Director David Ayer then went on to talk about Robbie's ability to play Harley, and how it requires “a lot of heavy lifting for an actor. But she’s a tough girl, and she’s incredibly smart and mature beyond her years. She has ridiculous depth, and she’s never been coddled, so she’s very physically courageous. The things she was doing herself as far as stunts, you wouldn’t believe. There’s only a handful of actors who do that sort of work themselves.”

@SuperbatSpider1003 - I remember an interview a couple months back where she said it'll be somewhat of a Brooklyn accent.

Her words:

"but according to the comics, she’s from New York and I think Brooklyn, so there may be a slight… I couldn’t imagine it would be as strong as the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ accent. The lingo will be the difference between that and the other character I played in ‘Wolf’ but I don’t know yet. We haven’t spoken about it.”

Looking forward to see what she brings to the role, she was certainly captivating in Focus.

I hope SS does well and would not be upset if Ayer took over DC movies, End Of Watch was fantastic especially the way he got the camaradrie right between the two leads and they were quite (super)heroic as well and it was fun.

@SimplyAz - what's the meaning of "fun" for you? I love End of Watch, I've seen it a few times, the first one on a cinema, but I would never use the word fun to describe it. Is a cop Drama, very realistic and crude.

@hgokuh -

Yes there was that but there were moments of levety such as when Pena wrestles with the suspect in his living room, the general joking around and banter between the two leads and their colleagues.
Yes there was a lot of what you mentioned but it wasn't all grim.
