Margot Robbie Hopes To Film SUICIDE SQUAD 2 Next Year; Doesn't Know Anything About JOKER/HARLEY QUINN Spinoffs
After Jared Leto expressed his confusion about the upcoming Joker spinoff earlier this week, his co-star Margot Robbie has also come out and admitted that she has no idea what Warner Bros. is planning.
Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie is currently making the rounds at the Toronto International Film Festival, promoting her upcoming biopic I, Tonya, which premiered to rave reviews yesterday with Robbie receiving tons of praise for her performance as disgraced former Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding. Now, while a majority of her day was spent in interviews for the upcoming movie, she also took a little time to provide a small update on her future as Harley Quinn and the current state of DC Films.
While speaking with The Wrap, Robbie revealed when she expects to be back as the colorful villain, "I think next year I’ll be back in the fishnets wielding a baseball bat. I hope.” Her statement essentially confirmed a recent report that claimed the fast-tracked Suicide Squad sequel, which recently landed Gavin O'Connor (Warrior) as writer/director, would film sometime during the backend of 2018.
However, when pressed about the rumored Harley Quinn spinoffs, which may or may not include Gotham City Sirens and/or Joker & Harley Quinn, Robbie admitted - just like Jared Leto before her - that she was basically in the same boat as fans and knew as little about the studio's convoluted plans as we do. "Your guess is as good as mine at this point. I don’t know."
