Perry White has been absent in Smallville since season 3. So when the news recently that Annette O'Toole's Martha Kent will be returning, there's an off chance the Ms O'Toole will bring back in the fold her real life husband Michael McKean to reprise his role as Perry White.
Entertainment Weekly is now reporting that the return of Perry White is happening. \ He and Mrs. Kent will be seen next to the last episode of the season (episode #9.21).
"Smallville"'s executive producer Brian Peterson has this to say about Perry White.
"We finally get to see the legendary introduction between Perry White and the intrepid Lois Lane,"
I'm not sure if Perry will be the new Editor of Daily Planet when we see him again or still be a reporter.
So next up will be that younger Jimmy Olsen then we have ourselves the real Daily Planet.
