Warner Home Video have revealed some new details surrounding their next DC Animated film Superman Vs. The Elite, based on the storyline "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?". Included are the possible cover art and an official plot summary. Check them out below:

The Elite, a team of super-powered antiheroes, is renowned for killing their enemies. Despite the acclaim and approval the Elite enjoy, Superman knows they are in the wrong, creating more harm than good by their methods. Tensions between them finally culminate in a mass showdown on Jupiter’s moons, when Superman is forced to prove that violence is never a positive.

Apparently, the above cover artwork may not be the final design, and are subject to change. Share your thoughts in the usual place.

Starring George Newbern as Superman and Pauley Perretteice as Lois Lane, Superman Vs. The Elite is set to hit DVD, Blu-Ray, On Demmand and Digital Download this summer.

What's the point in DC updating Superman's costume in the comics and trying to get us used to it, but then continually releasing movies with the classic costume? It's like breaking up with someone and then seeing them everywhere you go!

Hmmm..not liking the art.

@invalensname5: They "semi" did the costume in the new movie, but either way, movies are a different universe than the comics. Batman wasn't (and still isn't) wearing an all black costume after Nolans movies although it wasn't like Batman had never wore a mostly black costume before (see '90s). The movies don't half to use the same costume as the current one in the comics. Oh and my cousin had his ex-girlfriend stalk him for a month after there break up. It was quit creepy. So, I know your pain, a little.

@invalensname Agreed. The new 52 suit should be used from now on, right? Looks like they're not too sure on what they did.

Granted, it's probably not the final design. So another version (that's finalized) should be available in the coming weeks/months.

@Pux...It's funny you said what you did about Doomsday! I loved the books, but hated the movie! The artwork was shitty, and the story was nearly a total departure from the book! As for All-Star, I hated the comic because the story was retarded, and I despise Frank Quitely's artwork (reminds me of Dr Katz, or Beavis and Butthead with all the squiggly ass lines), but I enjoyed the movie! I'm hoping it's more like Public Enemies!! I'm not digging the artwork on this toon, but I'll see it anyway and hope for the best!! Expectations are very low this time around though.

Plus in that still where he's tearing the missile in half, is it just me or does he look an awful lot like Stan Smith?? lol Love the animation for American Dad, but not for a semi feature length Supes movie!

[frick] this movie. Bring on Dark Knight Returns. I've waited enough for it and Timm & co. has already done a bit of TDKR in BTAS.

A classic never goes outta style. Love the original suit. And just because they update the outfit for the new 52 universe, don't mean they are gonna use the new suit for OLD stories, it kinda makes sense. Plus, these guys change outfits all the time, so whats the whining for?

Oxion - 2/25/2012, 7:55 AM
Some of us like and STILL respect the suit that make Superman a world wide phenom, so if you don't like it, too damn bad because it is THE superhero costume.

And while for me the classic suit is always the true look of Superman, I think it's just fair for this movie to still use that look since the story arc it's adapted from also uses the classic suit! (Should also be applied to any other movies that are adapted from past story arcs.)

You know,I'd like to see them try and do a movie based on the Authority "Relentless" storyline.Or a Planetary series for adult_swim. Those I would gladly throw money at....

This movie had better be worth it because the comic it is based on was very good.

Yes the new 52 costume should always be used...as a trashcan liner. People...you don't mess with icons! Batman uses technology to stay physically in league with the League. It makes sense that his costume is always changing AND its not just Superman's costume they have updated. They destroyed the characters life and removed the boyscout image using the excuse of modernizing.

Yes...the artwork on this cover looks a bit...grainy? But their is no question that this is Superman!

Eh. The art is not bad. I just wish they would stop going to the Justice League well for voice actors. It's either Tim Daly/George Newbern or Kevin Conroy. I kinda wanna hear different takes on these characters. I loved Kyle Maclachlan in "New Frontier"-- his voice was perfect for Superman-- within the context of the story. And if Michael Ironside wasn't such a good Darkseid, he would own as Batman (ala TAS "Legend of the Dark Knight) IF and WHEN "The Dark Knight Returns" ever gets made. But seriously D.C., quit playing with us and give us what we want--"Knightfall", "TDKR" & "Crisis On Infinite Earths"!

I didn't read the comic so I don't know what to expect.

Going by the synopsis and look of it, it well be interesting, no doubt.

@JDUKE I'm waiting for that to happen too. It will be kind of bittersweet, because it truly be the end of the "underwear era."

@Froggy A Justice League CG animated series would be awesome.

This is based on one of my favorite Superman stories from the past 20 years, but I doubt that it will amount to much. After the atrocious Justice League Doom (also based on a fave story of mine) I'm starting to lose faith in these animated flicks.
Give us something different.. 100 Bullets, Preacher, whatever.
