There's a huge amount of intrigue surrounding Superman: Legacy, but with the script completed before the WGA strike began, filmmaker James Gunn is able to continue working on the movie in earnest.
The DC Studios co-CEO continues keeping fans updated on social media and recently revealed that we won't be forced to sit through yet another version of Clark Kent's origin story. We've seen Krypton's destruction on screen more times than we can count, a sentiment echoed by Gunn.
"I think we've seen his origin enough in film at this time," he said, later responding to another fan to confirm, "There is no Young Clark" in Superman: Legacy.
That presumably means no childhood flashbacks either, another relief considering we're all very familiar with the hero's life in Smallville with Ma and Pa Kent. Hopefully, this means we'll remain in the present day, following Superman's journey into becoming Metropolis and the DCU's greatest superhero.
In other news, Gunn has also confirmed that the score for Superman: Legacy is already being worked on. We're guessing he's looking to come up with something completely new and original for Kal-El on screen, so it will likely be very different from what we heard in Superman: The Movie and Man of Steel.
There's currently no word on who the filmmaker has tapped as Superman: Legacy's composer.
"Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas," reads the movie's synopsis. "He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned."
Superman: Legacy is set to be released in theaters on July 11. 2025.
