'Karai' Confirmed For New TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Movie?

Well, the character is included in the official movie LEGO sets at any rate. We don't have any pics, but descriptions include details on both her and Splinter. Could actress Minae Noji be playing the daughter of Shredder after all? Click on for more.

Three LEGO sets for Paramount and Platinum Dunes' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot were unveiled today at the UK Toy Fair, and although no photography was allowed, the lads at TMNT.com were on hand to provide some descriptions. First off, Splinter: he'll be gray. That's it! Not a huge deal, but the Turtles' sensei has been depicted as a brown rat in the past, only going gray for the 2003 animated series. The more interesting tidbit is that a Karai minifig was also spotted as part of one of the sets. Now it's worth noting that although some of the scenarios depicted in these tie-in sets aren't always movie accurate, the characters in them usually are. When Japanese-American actress Minae Noji (General Hospital) was cast in a secret role last year, fans speculated that she may be playing Karai, and this just might confirm it. Her IMDB page has been updated to say she will be playing that character, but of course that doesn't mean too much! Anyway, if we will see Shredder's hot-headed daughter in the movie I'd say it can only be a good thing. How bout you guys?

Oh man do I hate Karai's design in the new TMNT cartoon but besides that this is cool to hear Karai is an interesting character and has a good dynamic with Leo.

No it's alright..thanks:) Completely different stories really..I mentioned there were rumors and speculation in the article, this would seem to confirm Karai's appearance. Still not 100% of course.

@Ror Good point, and you're right.

Still mindboggling that they haven't officially confirmed this, as well as much of this film's other castings. Especially, when we're 6 months out from the damn thing.

@Jacky

In only one iteration is she the biologically related to the Shredder the IDW comic book line. In the original Mirage comics she had no relation to the Shredder she was just a high ranking member of the Foot Clan from Japan. In the 2003 series she was his adopted daughter who he found and raised by him and in the new series she is actually the daughter of Splinter who was stolen as a baby and Splinter thought was dead.

O.o
wait so splinter was a human at one point in the new series? wtf

good thing i didn't watch it, they probably butchered the characters compared to the 2003 show.

@goldslayer

Actually no Splinter is pretty awesome in the series basically his story is. Splinter and Shredder were students together and both fell in love with the same girl she chose Splinter and they got married. Well Shredder was not happy and soon after the birth of their daughter Shredder attacked them and during the fight Splinter's wife was killed and he thought his daughter died but was actually taken by Shredder. Splinter then moved to New York where he later became Splinter and raised the Turtles. The new series is pretty good some things I don't like especially the last episode they threw a lot out there for you to stomach and I feel they might be going to far with all this new stuff.

the new tmnt is basically the 80s cartoon which is totally awesome or [frick]ing horrible depending on if you like the 80s turtles

@Goldslayer

No Splinter was human and through the TCRI ooze was mutated into a rat man same thing happened in the 80's cartoon.

Splinter's human name was Hamato Yoshi

@sinisear

I would say somewhere in between the 80's series and the 03 series the 2012 series is definitely more light hearted and fun then the 03 series was for the most part but definitely darker and more serious then the 80's series. 03 series is still my favorite version of the turtles the show could be fun and silly but it had some great moments and could be very serious and dramatic when it wanted to.

@Pesmerga

Im more into the 2003 cartoon.
Hamato Yoshi was splinter's owner (he was a pet rat to yoshi)
he was an actual rat but just mutated. that's why i found it odd splinter would be human.

i suppose its reasonable since in the 2003 show the ooze is replicated and anyone who absorbs it becomes the animal they last touched.

yeah i personally prefer "darker" shows, and ones with good storylines.

The only show that I liked from nickelodeon was Avatar: TLA, and Avatar: TLOK.
which aren't as kiddie as nick's other shows.

Karai? I was hating this a lot so far, but them putting Karai in this makes me legitimately interested in how the story might play out. A lot of it is terrible so far, but at least Karai is asian?

Okay she's the only good casting in this whole shindig.

Still hoping that this movie is gonna kick my ass, despite how bad it sounds like it might be. Karai would certainly help with the ass-kicking. Hope it is true. Hope the Utrom-Shredder thing is true, also. Hope the new origin makes sense. Perhaps it has something to do with reincarnation/genetic memories from ancient blood found on ancient Japanese weapons, or something along those lines. Hope are easter eggs and subtle references. A little bit of Dr. Stockman and Professor Honeycutt wouldn't go amiss. And TCRI. If Eric Sach's is an Utrom, then he might be CEO of TCRI and Stockman and Honeycutt could work for them?
