Last we heard about another film starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Michael Bay and co. were announced to be producing a reboot of the franchise. Now, Deadline's reporting that Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec - who both wrote the script for the upcoming Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, have been hired to pen the script for the film. Here's the info below...

After the writing team of Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec revived one Paramount franchise with their script for Mission: Impossible --Ghost Protocol, the studio has tapped them to rewrite another franchise Paramount is hoping to resuscitate. They will next go to work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The scribes are repped by WME.

So what do y'all think of this? Should the Turtles be back on the big screen in the near future, or should they just rest for now? Anyways, the currently untitled reboot of the TMNT franchise currently has no release date.

Finally! TMNT!!!

I didn't like the last film...the cgi crapfest with aliens. I prefer they go back to the old TMNT movie style and just put actors in costumes. But maybe update the costumes a bit, make them seem more animalistic...and more sleek.

Didn't they just pay the Iron Man writers a million bucks to write this after the last script was supposedly shit? And they think they'll have more luck with the mission impossible guys? [frick] it, I'm gonna write them a script, get an agent and sell itt to them. I do write screenplays and I know the TMNT inside and out. Even my handle is a really obscure TMNT reference. [frick] it. I'm gonna get to work.

See, now this is an appropriate amount of time for a reboot.....20YRS!!!

And thankfully it's "in" to make all movies "dark" right now, so i'm thinking this might be the perfect time for this film. Add to that the guys from the new M.I. script that is supposed to be great, and we could end up with a awesome dark, gritty, action-packed turtles film!

AWESOME!:) Bring in the original Turtles!

LP4@ Idea which could work pretty well in these days!:) Specially if you think about movies like Hellboy or Pirates Of The Caribbean.
In Pirates they used both Motion capture and make up to create Davey Jones and his crew. That could work with Turtles pretty well too.

@AlexDeLarge87- Hahaha true my friend, true. They shouldn't use the CGI again...but they also shouldn't just go back to the way the old live-action films were either but something new...maybe prosthetic + minor cgi...

I'd love to see a great TMNT movie happen, but I kind of doubt it will anytime soon. Nickelodeon owns the rights, don't they? Look what they did with The Last Airbender. A lot of that was Shyamalan's fault, so I guess their biggest mistake there was giving him so much control.

yes finally tmnt movie news!!! i don't know about the writers but i hope they actually try to make a movie based on the 80's 90's cartoons. they're probably gonna cgi the turtles in a real live action movie and i'm ok with that but i hope they at least keep the voices from the 90's movies. rafael's brooklyn accent is the best.
