Bad news for those hopeful that Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis would be helming a DCEU film, because it's just been confirmed that that won't be the case. The Flash has been searching for a director for about a year now, and it seems that search is going to have to continue, if the movie even happens at all, which, with an impending writer's strike, seems increasingly unlikely.
It seems that the ScreenJunkies rumor wasn't entirely without basis. Although no deal was coming close to being secured, it does seem that Zemeckis has indeed met with Warner Bros., but no serious talks between the director and the studio occured. DCEU fans should not give up hope, though, because the search for a director hasn't stopped just yet.
The Academy Award-winning director has set his next, as of yet untitled, film with Universal Pictures, which is set to star Steve Carell in a "moving true story of one broken man's fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit." Though not much is known about this film, it is set for release November 21st, 2018.
Regardless of whether a The Flash movie actually happens, Ezra Miller's take on the character will debut later this year in Justice League, which will hit theaters November 17th.
