Michelle Pfeiffer plays Janet Van Dyne in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and following the original Wasp's return from the Quantum Realm in Ant-Man and The Wasp, she's expected to take centre stage in the upcoming Quantumania. However, Pfeiffer's first major superhero role was in Batman Returns where she made a major impact playing Selina Kyle and Catwoman.
A third movie set in Tim Burton's gothic take on Gotham City never became a reality, but with Michael Keaton reprising the role of Batman in the DC Extended Universe, could we see more of Catwoman?
Selina was the definition of "the one that got away" for Keaton's Bruce Wayne, and fans have hoped they might have eventually got their happy ending. The Flash rewriting reality could open the door to that happening, and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pfeiffer admitted she would be open to reprising the role. "It would depend on the context," she said, "but yeah, I’d consider it."
We never imagined Keaton would suit up again, but with the actor seemingly about to become a recurring presence on screen as Batman (he's also shot an appearance opposite Leslie Grace in Batgirl), a solo movie might not be too far off. We'd love to see Burton enlisted for that, and his return might just be enough to convince Pfeiffer to don that iconic catsuit once again.
As per usual, the DCEU is in a state of flux that leaves it unclear what the future holds in store for these characters. That's particularly the case after Discovery's recent merger with WarnerMedia, and there's every chance a decision could be made to reboot this world and start from scratch (again).
