Friday Night Lights star Scott Porter may be the man to don the red and gold suit..

With the recent news that Warner Bros are begining production on a movie of The Flash, casting rumors have been buzzing about. ThinkMcFlyThink.com is reporting a rumor they claim they have gotten from a very reliable source that "Friday Night Lights" star Scott Porter is being considered for the role of the speedster.

Porter was once being considered for the role of Superman in the now dead Justice League movie..i guess Warners dont want to go looking too far afield for actors for ther new project!Of course he could make a great Flash, i have never seen him in anything so cant comment on his acting ability. And just because he is being considered doesnt mean he will be cast.

I thought Adam Brody was playing him? I still think Ryan Reynolds would have been the best choice but whatever

This guy sucks. There are a ton of actors out there that would be better. Man this "budget cut" trend these companies are going for really isn't my cup of tea!

Never seen the show so he may be the worst actor on earth but he does have a strong resemblance to Barry Allen. So I like it. But if they use Wally West then Not so much I like Shamans pick for Wally. Then again I like Matthew Fox for Barry Allen but I could live with this kid.

To be honest i dont really care as lomg as the guy they pick doesnt completely suck..and thats because i think this movie will suck regardless! I hope im wrong but theres a reason that the Flash works best as a member of the JL..hes just not a strong enough character to carry an entire movie..super speed and wise cracks only get you so far before it will become monotonous..add to that a beyond awful rouges gallery (i mean who are they going to use? Captain bleedin Boomerang?) and you have the potential for suck city. Now granted im not much of a solo Flash comic reader, but i believe the general consensus is that Flash really only comes into his own dramatically when he shares the spotlight with stronger heroes and villains..thats certainly true of the JLU cartoons, im which, the Flash centric episodes usually revolve around him being viewed as the underdog or are just straight up comedy episodes.

Damn Jordan u have been absent for a while. I personally don't have a clue right now who would be good for the flash other than looking @ the previous cast picks of Shamans, loganoneil & Rorsch I believe.

By the time they actually make this flick, Ryan Reynolds will be 40 [frick]ing years old.

LOL Good one Mattlask!!!

And i guess i also agree with you Roar, for the JLA movie, anybody as long as they don't suck, should do! Flash CAN run solo as the 90's show proved to be amazing to us fans but maybe not so much the "non-fans". However you need a stellar cast to pull that off and just "someone that doesn't suck" won't cut it. John Wesley Shipp was amazing as Barry and he'll be a tough act to follow just as much as Chris Reeves was. Amanda Pays also provided much interest to the series with her endless sexiness! But you're totally right in saying that Flash is better and has always been better in the JLA as an underdog that can hold his own! News of this solo movie doesn't provide much comfort and in no way does this guy either!!!

Reynolds i thought was the best pick for wally, but as he's now DEADPOOL i dont know??? The guy from DAWSONS CREEK would be a great pick for Barry Allen scenes, looks like Wesley Ship and ol' Wesley played his dad on DAWSONS so it'll be cool as for Wally, dunno now lol, not Brody ffs!!!! : D

Man you took the words right out of my mouth, ror :) Seriously, he's sort of a one trick pony, and he has the worst rogue gallery period. Captain Boomerang, Mirror Master, Weather Wizard, Captain Cold... lame. Zoom is the only cool Flash villian since he is psychotic, so hopefully they go with him for the film.

I still like the Flash, I just don't think hes a strong enough character to carry his own movie. He makes a great supporting character, though.

roar- The Flash can make a good movie. DC just cannot stick to one flash. At least have Barry Allen as the flash and then Wally west as kid flash. The First or second movie Barry Allen dies. Then Wally West takes over as the Flash. And has everybody forgotten The flash 2 great enimies. Guerilla Graud and Reverse Flash. Guerilla Graud is strong and very intelligent and Reverse Flash has him on speed.

King Kong with a library card. THAT! Is priceless and ROR and I will keep that in mind.

As for Barry Allen or Wally West....Hmmm...How about; Jay Garrick?! The man is a LEGEND amongst superheros and NOBODY can match wits with him. As good as Allen is, and as smartassey as West is, there is NO MATCH for Jay Garrick. SO, find someone who can defend THAT role and I'll be satisfied. Dane Cook as West, YES! Ryan Reynolds as Allen, YES! Find me someone to portray Jay Garrick WELL and you've got youself a deal.

Rorschach, you couldn't be more wrong, and you can't base his chharacter from what was on the cartoon series. He was incredibly one-sided because it was just that, a cartoon series. All fo the Flashes are very strong characters and have had great stories throughout the years.
Ion, John Wesley Shipp?

Hey cool! A Jay Garrick reference! Nice to see someone that knows their history. It would be interesting to see him used, but I can hear the kids whining about his helmet and making fun of it (completely ignoring the mythological reference to Hermes it is). I don't know if they'd make a whole movie around him, but I'd sure love to see Garrick at least make a cameo appearance.

Since these movies seem to love to have characters fighting villains that are like dark versions of themselves (recent examples: Iron Man and Incredible Hulk), maybe we could at least get Professor Zoom for the villain! That would rock! He always was my favorite Flash villain.

As for the Flash himself, he did a fine job carrying his unfortunately short-lived series (which I really enjoyed), so I think he could carry a 2 hour movie with a good script and a good villain. Oh, and a good director, who understands the character and why people have liked him for many years- not just another hack who's been handed a job nobody else wants.

I agree wih Souleater. I think CHris Evan's would make a good Flash. It's a shame he was already Human Torch.

Well groundrunner, i did say i hadnt read much Flash solo stories so i wasnt going by my own opinion, just what i had garnered from friends and any old comic books i did happen to read. I just never found him to be a strong character. But as far as the Justice league cartoon goes, dude that is THE most faithful interpretation of the DCU characters that we will probably ever see..they are lifted straight from the pages of the comics..seriously ask anyone!

In a perfect world Chris Evans WOULD be flash.

Why are people bothered about actors playing characters in different universes? Its like saying, "well Ian Mckellen cant be gandalf because he was Magneto" Just because Flash and FF are both comics, they have nothing to do with each other..i say [frick] it! lets have Ryan Reynolds as Flash
Shaman
Shaman - 2/12/2009, 9:49 AM
I don't feel that bothered by the "different universe" aspect. It's more the over "typecast" aspect.

Ryan Reynolds: Hannibal King, Deadpool... maybe flash.
Chris Evans: Johnny Storm, Push (whatever)...maybe flash.
Brad Pitt: Achiles, He-man... maybe Thor.

It's like enough already! I dunno... seems like the "Samuel L. Jackson" syndrome to me. I mean i think that Michael Clark Duncan is the best possible pic to portray Apocalypse, Darkseid, Killowog, King Pin, Manute, Balrog, Killer Croc, a black Bane...etc, etc, etc. But "enough" already, you know? Like pick one and that's it.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 2/12/2009, 12:42 PM
Well fair enough, but if someones perfect for a role then lets have it! Ok i guess seeing Duncan in ALL of those roles you mentioned would get monotonous but 2 or 3 i could live with.

Well as of now they ain't doing anymore FF movies so he's technicly open for new work. Like Cyclops in Superman returns, or Ben Foster in Punisher AND Xmen 3.

I'm still crossing my fingers that Reynolds will some how do it.
Does anybody else think they should just bring back the Goyer script? They said it was "too dark" and now they want darker movies. Plus Reynolds would probably be more inclined to do it if Goyer was attached.
