Here's The Latest From Warner Bros. On What's Happening With The FLASHPOINT Movie

It's been widely reported that Flashpoint won't happen unless Justice League is a hit and now a new report sheds some light on where things currently stand with the Scarlet Speedster's solo outing...

Last month, we heard that Warner Bros. is holding back on giving Flashpoint the green light because the studio is waiting to see how Justice League does first. If rumours about the likes of Aquaman and Wonder Woman showing up in the movie are accurate (not to mention an alternate universe version of Batman), it's clearly going to have a huge budget and that's left studio execs somewhat cautious.

Well, as you can see below, Warner Bros. President Toby Emmerich has confirmed that they are now closing in on a director and hope to get work started soon, comments which may confirm that the studio really is taking a wait and see approach before they consider letting cameras roll on the movie.

If Justice League does fail to live up to expectations, it's feasible that the Flash's movie will be rethought with a smaller scale and lower budget focusing solely on the Fastest Man Alive as opposed to a huge ensemble with other familiar faces from the DCEU. Do you still want Flashpoint to happen?

As someone who loved Dope, it's still a shame that Rick Famuyiwa isn't making the Flash movie. Think we would have had a great story.

Whether Justice League succeeds or not, Flashpoint is in the mix either way. To redo this whole thing or build on the crossover momentum.

My hopes are high for this movie, could fix all the shit Snyder forced on us making the DCEU a better universe.

I've got this "homerun or strikeout" feeling about JL and I really don't think it'll strike out. I'm hoping JL will course correct the DCU and bring in some fresh air to give future movies the ability to do different storylines like this. I don't think CBM's will ever go the "way of the westerns" if they pump out new types of stories like Flashpoint to the general audience. So stoked.

@RunBarryRun95 - course correct from what exactly? Because if its darkness...its been 2 DCEU films since we had a dark movie. If its a more linear plot...its been 2 films since we had a movie that went from A>B>C. They even brought in Joss Whedon because everyone came out for Avengers.

I am not trying yo discredit you but I am just trying to figure out what more are fans wanting if with every film DC is taking heed to their criticisms. I thought everyone was saying that WW was a step in the r8ght direction?? We have to juat give the the opportunity to answer those fan complaints.

I just fear that DC films in general have developed audience culture (surrounding their movies) of dissection whether the films have merit or not. People are hungry to for the next DC movie because they need material for their latest video essays. Meanwhile, Marvel has developed a culture of come back for the next one with theirs.

@AreTudaEDub - course correct in the sense that I saw what they were going for in BvS (which I REALLY like and loved the Ultimate Edition) but both that and SS could've been so much better if they had better editing. BvS and SS both tried to cram a lot of information and a lot of it came out sloppy at times. I feel like some of these movies don't dedicate themselves to try and be one thing, they try to be a million different things and it doesn't work. They both feel very indecisive if that makes any sense.

Since JL looks like a crowd pleaser, I'd say a full fat Flashpoint is in the mix.

I also expect we'll hear about George Miller's MOS2 at around the same time...

Well, if FLASHPOINT happens, then it's going to be Justice League 2.0 ... That's gonna be epic, if it's adapted carefully and hopefully it's not Zack Snyder please...

I think were gonna be okay here...BvS Theatrical was a critical disaster but still pull in 900m at the box office, SS was even worse and that raked in over 700m. If JL can get on the score sheet for even 50 - 60 % RT score (my prediction anyway) it should make an enormous amount of cash and will probably cross the 1B mark.

@HappyHater - Man of Steel and Batman v Superman were good movies. Suicide Squad has been their only TRULY bad movie. If anything, their first two films deserved to make so much more than they did.

Just give the lead to Feige already, bunch of selfish psychopaths at WB, no vision, no cohesion, driven by numbers and not even pretending to care about fans...

It's not about hate of DC, i love those characters and read much more DC than Marvel but you can't argue than the DCEU is handled like shit, whether you like or not what they come up with.

@HappyHater - That's a bad idea for two reasons. One, with the producer of one Cinematic Universe in charge of another, we will just get more of the same and, with the exception of this year's Marvel movies, (I haven't seen Ragnarok yet, so I can't judge either way) almost all of them have been just OK. Second of all, contrary to popular belief, Feige is not God. He is not going to be able to run two Cinematic Universes and not falter on one. Plus, the worst DC Film was created when more attention was given to humor and action than to story and character in Trailer Park's Suicide Squad.

makes sense WB, see how the critical response is before pulling the trigger. lets not forget the critical response for BvS and SS wasn't good, but financially they were a hit, that's not to say WB doesn't care about fans(never would have hired Johns if that were so), just tells us that they saw where their mistakes were. I really do believe WB has learned from their past. Don't see them regressing after WW's success. Im sure some marvel fanboys are salty this movie is coming out, and especially that it might or its sounding good! But with "infinity war" on the horizon(gonna be a helluva movie), lets all enjoy the times we live in!

It's a shame Rick Famuyiwa isn't attached anymore. Not the biggest Joss Whedon fan in the world but I feel like he'd be a great fit for The Flash.
