THE FLASH: Ben Affleck Says He Didn't See Michael Keaton On Set While Shooting Batman Return

Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton both return as Batman in The Flash, but those of you hoping the two Caped Crusader's might cross paths in the movie might be setting yourselves up for disappointment...

In a different part of the Multiverse, Ben Affleck made his Batman movie and is still playing the Dark Knight alongside Henry Cavill as one of the faces of the DC Extended Universe. Sadly, things didn't quite work out that way, but the actor will suit up one final time to bid farewell to Bruce Wayne in The Flash.

He won't be that movie's only Caped Crusader, as Michael Keaton also reprises his earlier take on the character for what sounds like a leading role (compared to an extended cameo for Affleck).

Those of you dreaming about an epic Batman team-up look set to be disappointed, though, as the actor spillled the beans during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Asked if his The Tender Bar co-star George Clooney appears, Affleck responded: "If he is, he hasn’t told me. It’s possible. [Clooney] may be very guarded. As far as I know, he doesn’t want to return to that level height of cowl ears. But I don’t believe he’s in the ‘Flash’ movie."

"But then again, I didn’t even see Michael Keaton, so maybe [Clooney] is there?" he concluded.

It's entirely possible Affleck is just having fun and looking to throw fans off the scent, but we're betting the two Bruce Waynes don't get the opportunity to share the screen. The Flash does seem to be more about the creation of a new timeline a la Flashpoint rather than an adventure following the Scarlet Speedster through the Multiverse, so perhaps this was to be expected?

Either way, we're still expecting some big surprises when the Fastest Man Alive returns to the big screen, and more Affleck in the cape and cowl is far from a bad thing.

The Flash races into theaters on November 4, 2022.

Clooney isn't in it. We may see reference to that universe. But the idea will be their will be multiple universes. With Affleck's Batman being one universe and Keaton's Batman another universe. It will also likely explain with the DC films are not all set in the same universe.

I really hope Ben and the character get some closure in this movie. I wouldn't even mind it if they kill the character off if that leads to a Gotham Knights movie

@bkmeijer - That was a joke.

I'd be surprised if anyone here wanted a tv show on Cw... from Batwoman writers.

You don't see Batman unless Batman wants you to see him, and at that point you're either soon unconscious or upside down.

I hope this movie quickly introduces a bunch of new characters then gathers them in a room to discuss their back stories in 5 minutes using lightning fast quipy dialog and banter filled exposition dumps, and then Flash and the bad guys just kinda hang out together like buddies, and Flash just kinda lets them wander around, then suddenly the bad guys remember they are characters who should behave based on motivations and character arcs rather than forced scenarios that enable fun conversations and jokes, and suddenly kils Flashs family member who's just tagging along cuz... reasons.... and then for the rest of the movie we just ride off of any Flash related nostalgia we can squeeze into a 3rd act, we'll get Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton to reprise their roles because that's something we know people wanna see. What the people clearly love are movies that kinda destroy source material for several films, change shit up and borrow from other versions, then wrap it all up by just absolutely bathing it in 'member berries and then scraping all the world building you did in the previous movies, to just hint at a comic accurate suit and future as the trilogy closes.

Perfection! 10 out of 10 Rotten Tomatoes!

@ElricReturns - Fans will eat it up.

Haters -- fans in disguise -- will sarcastically gripe about it, yet continue to see the films opening weekend.

@ElricReturns - welllll, when you put it that way.... I still liked it. And I have had season 15 of Sothpark Stan Marsh levels of being over entertainment for the past few years. This movie did some good to my heart. I am glad I went to see it in theaters.

That’s kinda disappointing cause I was hoping for some fun behind the scenes videos or pics of them together. Would have been awesome.

Well duh, of course, when Affleck will be only at the beginning giving Barry a talk about their moms, then Flashpoint happens, which leads to a senile old Batman with amazing Bat stunts giving us a bright future to look upon.

Nah, at least we'll be getting this... IN almost TWO MONTHS:

It's for the best. 5ft6 Keaton looking up to Afflecks physically imposing Batman wouldn't work.
