The FLASH Executive Producer On What's Next With The Speed Force

The Flash's executive producer Andrew Kreisberg on last night's reveal of the Speed Force and what that potentially means for the superhero drama moving forward.

In addition to last nights debut of Pied Piper (Andy Mientus) and the glimpse of Harrison Wells' (Tom Cavanagh) true intensions, Flash viewers heard the Speed Force mentioned for the first time.  Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg explained to Entertainment Weekly what that means for the series moving forward.  "Right now, the Speed Force is a little bit like the force in Star Wars before midi-chlorians came along. It’s an amorphous thing, which hopefully for comic book fans will make them feel like we’re heading in certain directions. For right now, it’s a catch-all phrase that speaks to a grander universe and a grander power and ultimately grander abilities. If you know the comics and you know what having access to the speed force gives you the abilities to do."

Flash comics are awesome. First time I read Flash Rebirth and Flashpoint I was blown away. Great character, great stories. The show is incredible too.

Did anyone happen to notice when Harrison ran, his "electricity" was red? Just a guess, but I'm thinking he was the red seen when Barry's mom was killed. Obviously he's from the future so maybe he made an attempt to save her, but ultimately failed. Maybe he's thinking Barry's future disappearance is linked. Though doesn't really explain the yellow suit... But maybe I'm overreaching. Harrison has the paper about the Flash's disappearance, so maybe it was Barry-Flash that went back in time to save his mom, but failed. Or it's just another Allen-Flash...or Harrison having a change of heart...gonna go sit...eyes just crossed

Does Wells have the Reverse Flash suit in order to train Barry for a future mission because he is the future Barry Allen? Could Wells be Wally West trapped in the past trying to save his grandmother? So many possibilities....

I love how people are still holding out hope Wells is good or something. He is the big bad, he is training Barry to get him to top speed to he can steal his speed. That's why he is protective, that's why he is pushing him...he's not Bart, he's not Wally, he's not Barry who got stuck in the past. He is a Thawne from the future (why he didn't kill Eddie).

@Darkjedi
Right?! LOL Speaks volumes to Tom Cavanaugh's chops, tho. One week you guys want him dead the next you're trying to explain away his powers and suit. LOL

He's The Reverse Flash!

(Just wish Cisco would've dropped "Professor Zoom" in there somewhere, may be too pointed at Wells, though.

Spoiler Alert! Freaking Awesome episode! I knew wells couldn't be the 100% the real Reverse Flash. Wells looks like is either using the suit to train Barry to peak the speed force and take it for him so he can walk again. Bam

Yeap, I agree with @Darkjedi41... and that Barry disappearing is him going to the past fighting reverse flash, trying to save his mother etc...

I don't think it's going to take him untill 2014 to run after his mothers killer through time. His dissaperance is A reference to the crisis.

Why are you guys still asking this question? Wells IS the reverse Flash. He already confirmed that it was him in the suit when Barry fought him at the football stadium

Tom already confirmed he is the RF. And he is trying to figure out WHY Barry disappeared in the future (who btw in the newspaper looks nothing like Wells).

I can't wait to read the comments the day after the season finale when people are either "shocked" he is who they have been telling you he is OR still trying to explain how he could be Bart.

@kevberg

Tom said he was relieved to reveal that he is playing the reverse flash. That's not something he is going to lie about in an interview. If he was Barry as some of youall think he would have to have yellow lightning, which he doesn't. And as I said he doesn't look like future Barry. Plus back in the Arrow cross over he would have known who the Arrow was initially. There are too much evidence to shoot down Wells is future Barry.

LOL RIGHT!

Y'all saw Piper threaten to go public cuz he knew Wells didn't give a shit about the be reactor being unstable. You saw him MURDER those two guards at Mercury Labs. You saw him MURDER Stagg and send Plastique to her death.

HE IS THE VILLIAN.

Dinotron

1. He has threatened to kill and killed people
2. He siphons the speed force
3. His lightning is red
4. He has the daggone yellow suit
5. He has gotten on edge when Joe was questioning him on Nora Allens death
6. Tom came out in said in an interview he is the reverse flash
7. (The list goes on...)

But some people still don't believe he is the Reverse Flash???

More important question: Who's the other RF working alongside Wells?

skidz
skidz - 1/28/2015, 8:43 AM
There are a few glaring holes in the theory that Wells is the Reverse Flash(Eobard Thawne). How was he in two places as once in the episode officially introducing the man in the yellow suit? Why wasn't he the one to figure out the 'trap'? Why not use that technology to imprison Barry and modify the other machine to siphon off Barry's power? Why didn't RF straight up kill Eddie Thawne? Why is Wells so concerned with keeping Barry Allen alive and maintaining the timeline leading up to the Crisis event?

Here's a theory I've VERY rarely heard: He's Hunter Zolomon, known only as 'Zoom'.

His behavior may not be heroic, but I don't think he means Barry any harm.

@kevberg

he has murdered in cold blood, has a hand in creating grodd, is lying/maniplulating his a$$ off about basically everything. Good guys dont do those kind of things. We can speculate as to the specific "why" but its kinda silly to still think he is somehow mentoring barry for barry's own good. Seems pretty obvious he needs barry at peak powers for his ultimate plan to succeed.
skidz
skidz - 1/28/2015, 10:47 AM
So, he murdered innocent people? Last time I checked, the people he killed weren't exactly saints. How would his younger self know that he was supposed to beat up his older self? Most people don't usually live by the concept 'I'm kickin' my ass, do ya mind?!'
TechNation
TechNation - 1/28/2015, 10:48 AM
Also, Wells needs Barry to get Faster before he tries to siphon the speed force. In the comics Barry is the source of the Speed Force. Also, I think Wells is a descendant of Eddy, why he didn't kill him. The show has already said that time travel will be involved. Barry most likely disappears from the future to go and try and save his mom, why we saw the yellow energy with the red and Sisko said two flashes were there. Bottom line, Wells is the bad guy, Wells is the reverse Flash.
