The news broke this week that the producers of the new Flash series have decided to film a stand alone pilot of the show instead of having the episode air on Arrow as a back door pilot. What are the pros and cons on this decision.

Pros

1- Characters - Instead of seeing Arrow characters with this episode we will get the see only Flash character and we get to find which ones from the comic books they will be using (Is Wally, Iris and Jay in it?)

2- More money - TV pilots are historically more costly then a regular episode. Which means more effects, characters and more time to film the episode.

3- Keeping the faith - Apparently they were so impress with Grant Gustin performance that they elected to do this.

Cons

1- No Arrow Characters -- That's right. Since this will be a stand alone pilot no characters of the Arrow will appear.

2- Not picked - If the exes at the CW view the pilot and they don't like it Guess what?? We won't see The Flash on the CW and Barry Allen will just be a guest on Arrow.

3- Time waits - If they like the episode and decide to go to series we will have to wait until October 2014 to see The Flash on tv as oppose to May 2014.

There you have it folks. I'm sure there is more so sound off below.

They must have A LOT of faith in Gustin, which is a good sign. But yeah, it sucks that we won't get to see the Arrow characters react to superpowers until later on.

I didn't like the casting, but I'm gonna give him a chance.

Well, now we don't know for sure when this pilot will come out. Is it in May, or will they wait till next fall? As for it not being picked, as much publicity as it's getting, I have a hard time seeing them tick off fans by not airing a few episodes and giving it a chance. I agree about wanting the Arrow characters to interact with him, but they could have a cameo by Oliver after he gets his powers. And since both shows will be on the CW, I would bet on some crossover events.

If THIS fails we probably won't even get a flash movie...
