The Flash returns on The CW January 19th, 2016.

Last year, the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark matter storm that struck forensic scientist Barry Allen — bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive. But Barry wasn’t the only person who was given extraordinary abilities that night. The dark matter also created meta-humans — many of whom have wreaked havoc on the city. With the help of the S.T.A.R Labs team, Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon and Dr. Harrison Wells, Barry protects the people of Central City from these powerful new threats as The Flash. Following the defeat of Allen's arch-nemesis Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), Team Flash must quickly turn their attention to the singularity swirling high above Central City, consuming everything in its path. Armed with the heart of a hero and the ability to move at super speeds, Barry charged into the eye of the singularity, but can he actually save his city from impending doom?

What an excellent episode all the way around. Cisco, Joe, Patty, Zoom, Snart, Trickster, Wally, even Iris were all really well written this episode. Loved when Joe was talking to Barry about being wrong for 20 years about how he handled the situation with Francine. Showed real emotional depth and maturity and development for the character. And that short introduction to Wally at the end of the episode has me really intrigued on how this will play out.

This season of the Flash has been more up-and-down than last, but it remains one of the best shows on television with excellent writing and acting.

I love the show for its zaniness, but yeah, it's some of the worst writing on television. If you think otherwise, then please explain to everyone how Wells drew all the bombs away at once. For a bunch of scientists, that was the least sciencey thing they've done yet.
But the flipside is that everyone loves this show despite its writing, which is a major testament to the actors and fx team. Kudos to them.

Tonight really made me feel like it's Eddie Thawne in the mask. If Zoom wants to steal everything from the Flash, then maybe he feels Flash has stolen everything from him. Eddie might feel that way, losing his life and love and getting dumped on Earth 2.

Am I the only one that thinks that episode was really disappointing for a mid season finale? Plus, Cavanaugh's acting at the end felt extremely awkward.. I don't know, just disappointed in general with the ep.

This episode was really up and down for me. The way they found the bombs was kind of dumb (what if people payed for tolls with cash? What if they didn't have to go through a toll? What if the kids were above 10? What were the sheer odds of finding the right 10 year old? All this happens before Weather Wizard is able to kill Barry. This was contrived even by this show's standards.) and the way they got rid of them was even dumber. I think Hamill is great as Trickster, but the lines they give him are even cheesier than Cold's. Murder this and murder that. Also, this is just a personal nitpick, but I was really hoping for a "I'm Barry Allen." "I'm Wally West moment."

The guy playing Weather Wizard was waaaayyy better than the other times he's been seen though. Every line felt actually sort of menacing, but still funny. I think the writers should push his character to being more like the comics. Mardon in the comics is a lot more intelligent than a common crook. I just wish Cold being in LoT didn't prevent this from being a Rogues coming together episode. I was under the assumption that "You owe me" meant Mardon would join the Rogues in a more official capacity.

The stuff with Patty was all great. I'm really surprised at how much I like her character.

I can't hold Cavanaugh's off-day against him though. He's been the high point of this show far too many times.

Despite all my complaints, this was still a fairly solid episode. Visuals were A1 as always.

I'm thinking Eddie got sucked through the wormhole to Earth 2 along with the cobalt panels, which turned him into some sort of energy sponge. He got his first taste of speed when he met Jay Garrick and drained his powers, going mad in the process. Now he blames Barry for the loss of everything he held dear, so he's come to Earth 1 to take it all back. He has some sort of plan to store enough energy to go far enough back in time to change it all. Harrison Wells helps him drain Flash's power, and crazy EddieZoom goes after Iris.
Meanwhile Caitlin and Garrick will reproduce Wells' serum to give Barry and Jay their powers back for the final fight. Wells finds a way to reverse his work and the Speed Force explodes out of Zoom and into Wells, Jessie, and Wally. Zoom has enough juice to escape the timestream and Barry chases him off into the future. Season ends with Wally the new Flash, the Earth 2 people stranded, and Barry trapped in the future.

Possible season 3 story: Trapped in the future, Eddie gets a new face and starts calling himself Eobard.

I'm a Flash and Arrow lover but I also felt this episode was weak for a midseason finale. It had some real comic booky moments, like the magnetic bombs bit, which I do appreciate the show, the West-family drama I can live with if it's necessary for story progression. The Patty story arc was good. It was overall a good episode but not for a "finale".

I hope they make up with Arrow. I feel that the writers struggle to juggle the two shows. When Flash was good, Arrow suffered, now that Arrow is better, it feels like Flash is suffering. We still get to see all the comicbook amazingness but it's just missing something this season. Not that it'll deter me from watching and being a fan. :)

I thought the bomb thing was pretty dumb as well. I was sure Cisco was going to create some kind of jamming signal to short them out so Barry could have time to collect them.

But overall, it was a good episode. Party continues to be a good character and I think she's getting hotter as the seaason goes on! The West family stuff was done well by all involved and Mark Hamill nails it again. His scheme with the bombs was so evil, but he still didn't get to do much. And I would've liked for mardon to escape and keep the wand like in the comics.

I'm stunned to read the positive comments about this show!

The Flash(and Arrow) has some of the WORST writing on TV!

How the hell did all of the gift boxes find a window to escape the houses if they were pulled by a magnet from above!? Wouldn’t they all just go straight up and into the ceiling of whatever house they were in?!

The cheesy, whiny soap opera sub-plots are just plain terrible! Who are they writing this stuff for? Teenage girls or housewives?! Joe crying over his long lost son. Barry and Iris crying over Joe’s long lost son. Patty crying in general. Cisco with a lame ass joke every other minute. This s#it just plain blows!

The Flash works BEST when it focuses on its comicbook superhero roots without leaning on the cornball cheese. The ‘superhero versus the bad guy' stuff works. But it get ruined by the awful scripting and juvenile storylines. The writing on both Flash and Arrow feel like a room full of rookie writiers pulling the best from comics and the worst from tween dramas and mixing it all up randomly. Can't this dreck go one minute without sad music and young adults sobbing into their coffee cups from friggin' CC Jitters!?

I’m not a DC fan (Marvel all the way), but I love comicbook superheroes. I also appreciate the inherent nuttiness that comes with superhero adventures. But that nuttiness can be treated with a level of gravitas and maturity that can make for good episodic television. Agents Of SHIELD is doing just that this season. AOS started slowly in season one…..but it’s been a runaway freight train since then. All the comicbook action WITHOUT the lame stories that turn adults into wimpering babies every other scene. None of the lame tween trappings like a coffee shop set location. CC Jitters might as well be the Peach Pit from 90210 or Central Perk from Friends! The stakes are high and the drama is real with AOS. The acting is top notch and the stories make sense. And the big moments pay off! Coulson doing what he did last night was heavier and more meaningful than every thing Barry od Oliver have done since their shows began!

For every cool thing The Flash and on the rare occasion, Arrow does (ie: Grodd, Zoom, superhero action) they nullify it with raw stupidity (ie: bad acting, bad scripting, lame plots, lame resolutions to conflicts, whiny adults crying every damn minute over immature relationship issues).

I'm not calling for The Flash and Arrow to go hard like Marvel's Netflix stuff. I'm calling for better writers whose goal is to craft comicbook based superhero action/drama without insulting us with the insipid tween angst!

Be BETTER!
Be more like AOS!

They've wasted Mark Hamill two times now. Running To Stand Still didn't work on so many levels.

The scenes where Barry is getting beaten while Wells and Cisco have time to find a bomb and rig it as a magnet to pull all of the bombs into the breach, epitomized everything wrong with the worst of live action superheroes. That was embarrassingly bad!

The entire episode had a phoned in, "who gives a damn we're going on Christmas break" feel. There was too much going on, which is a writer's trick deployed to cover up the fact that their plot and writing is very weak. The plot was not working so let's throw in Zoom here and there and focus on Joe's soap opera. Let's throw in Patty's backstory and end it with the old reliable good guy makes the right decision not to kill the person who killed their loved one idea.

All of that stuff was going on and the supposed threat was just another simultaneous multi bomb threat with no suspense and a stupid solution. Zoom, Joe's son, Patty's backstory were all thrown in to make it feel like epic stuff was happening when really it wasn't.

If they ever use The Trickster again they need to have a real plot that utilizes the character and put the soap opera and season baddie shit on hold and focus on good entertainment. But after two wasted appearances by Hamill as Trickster, The Trickster stock has plummeted.

Last nights episode was OK. Getting bored of the West Family drama... Wally better have some kind real role in this season other than making Joe act like a wuss. More Zoom and more cool meta humans.
