With The Flash a little over six months away from arriving in theaters, we can expect Warner Bros. to start the marketing campaign relatively soon. We recently heard that a trailer is unlikely to drop until next year, but in the meantime, some promo art has surfaced showing Ezra Miller's Scarlet Speedster racing into action.
Or should that be phasing into action?
As you can see, this cool shot of the DCU's Fastest Man Alive is accompanied by the tagline, "Keep Phasing," something we're assuming will make more sense when we watch the movie itself. In the comic books, Barry Allen is able to vibrate his molecules so quickly that he can actually phase through solid objects, meaning this is probably a reference to that new ability.
With James Gunn and Peter Safran in charge of DC Studios, it's unclear what the future holds in store for this character beyond The Flash. Given Ezra Miller's ongoing legal issues, we know they're unlikely to continue playing this hero, but it would be a terrible shame for Barry to be sidelined.
Luckily, 1917 star George MacKay is rumoured to be the frontrunner to take over the role. Whether that happens in this movie or down the line is hard to say, though we do still expect The Flash to be an important next step for the new DCU.
Similarly unclear is whether plans for a Crisis on Infinite Earths-style event movie have been sidelined by Gunn and Safran, but chances are The Flash was once set to be front and centre there. As for this promo art, fingers crossed we soon get a closer look at Michael Keaton's Batman and Sasha Calle as Supergirl.
The Flash is set to be released in theaters on June 23, 2023.
