"I Will Go On Until The Audience Wants Me To Stop" Says Tom Hiddleston On Playing Loki

Tom Hiddleston was careful not to give away any specifics on Thor: The Dark World but he does discuss what the role of Loki means to him and what he hopes the film explore for the God of Mischief.

Tom Hiddleston Loki Thor The Dark World

It's hard to imagine another actor underneath the horned helmet that adorns the head of the Asgardian god of mischief and actor Tom Hiddleston says that so long as the fans support him, he'll gladly bear the weight of said helm.

"I will go on until the audience wants me to stop or Marvel tells me to stop. It is a rare thing to be connected to a character that people enjoy watching. I never expected it my wildest dreams. You don't dare sign up for that as an actor. All any actor can see is they might play a character that somehow ignites the public imagination and it is thrilling when you do. It is in good fun."

The actor has been pretty frank about his love for the character and the complexity it affords him in flexing his acting skills in front of the camera. At times maniacal, sorrowful, angry and even a bit funny, there aren't many roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that would allow an actor to show such a range of emotion.

"The fun of playing Loki is the character itself constantly keeps people guessing. And he provokes a double-edged sentiment in the people who allegedly he has invested in, and who he cares about. As someone, who was then cast out as the black sheep of the royal family, whether he can be accepted into that fold is a question that remains to be answered. Just how dark and evil he has become is another question I hope the film will answer."

After being the primary antagonist in Thor and The Avengers Loki will take a backseat to Christopher Eccleston's Malekith the Accursed in Thor: The Dark World. The film will also introduce Tyr (Clive Russell), who in Marvel Comics continuity is another son of Odin and brother to Thor and Loki. We'll have to wait to see if this holds true for the film. Thor: The Dark World arrives in U.S. theaters November 8th, 2013.

id Loki is back for Thor 3 I wouldn't mind that much but please leave Coulson out of the marvel cinematic universe for the good of the franchise.

I could never get tired of Tom as Loki(dude's my favorite CBM villain at this point)! But, I will say that he shouldn't tie himself down to just one role. He's got a lot of talent, and he should do some more variety as an actor!

tom hiddleston as loki is one of the best castings ever, definitely the best villain performance out of all the marvel studios movies.

maybe it will be beaten by ben kingsley as the mandarin or christopher eccleston as malekith or even adewale akinnuoye-agbaje as kurse.

I love him in avengers, but he totally stole the show in Thor..not an easy feat when anthony hopkins is your dad lol.

I want the films to explore the "thor & loki: blood brothers" storyline where he finally beats Thor and begins to feel guilty as he ascends to the asgardian throne.. such a GREAT loki story!! Watch it on Netflix ASAP if you haven't already!!!

Hiddles is a genuinely likable dude. It also helps that he loves playing Loki. Yea Hiddles, we want you to stick around for quite some time.

Dude's fantastic in this role, and he also seems invested in it too. That' a good thing, a good actor that loves his role. Keep 'em coming, Tommy !

I wonder just how big (or small) a part he'll have in Thor 2 ?

Loki appears in numerous comics, novels and animated series and movies over the years for decades. Why stop him doing so in movies? Same with other Villains.

I hope Marvel doesn't just kill their villains off after three or so movies, that's absurd. I'm not sick of Loki, never will be and neither are millions of others. But instead of doing something like killing him off just have him out for a few movies somewhere else, then maybe return again. Heck, give us a movie from Loki's point of view. Innovative and new.

I truly appreciate the enthusiasm he expresses for his role. I could same the same for RDJ, and Chris H too. I just wish Evens had half of their enthusiasm, I feel like he could take it or leave it.

He's great as Loki, but I don't want to see him in everything. Like how Gene Hackman was good, but after SUPERMAN IV, you wanted to see a villain over than Luthor.
