Kenneth Branagh Reiterates His Desire To Direct And/Or Act In Another CBM

The Thor director has already said he wouldn't rule out a return to direct another movie for Marvel studios, but now he expands that to CBMs in general, and adds that he would be "delighted" to act in one too..

We know that Branagh won't be back to helm Thor 2 (Marvel have settled on Alan Taylor..for now!) but the director still seems to have a CBM bug in his system. He has already stated in a previous interview that he would never rule out returning to Marvel on a different project, but now while speaking to The Examiner Branagh seems to suggest that it wouldn't necessarily have to be Marvel, and that he wouldn't mind stepping in front of the camera while he's at it..

"I don't know what it would be, but I would be delighted to go back and do some other kind of comic book movie, on either side of the camera or both."

"Given the scale of film, and the range of energy, storytelling and narrative devices you can use -- and the sort of extreme sorts of characters that those movies can allow -- it continues to be something that I like because I like the big screen experience," Branagh said. "I like big sound and big images. Comic book movies are one venue where that kind of cinema, that kind of image making, can still be done on a heroic scale."

So what about it guys, which CBMs would you like to see Branagh direct, and which characters do you think he would do a good job playing?

He did a great job with Thor in my opinion.I'd say
give him a chance with whatever he wants to direct.
Like others I'm not sure who he could act as,but I'm
sure there's a character out there for him.

Branaugh is the Shakespeare director of our lifetime. He's played Iago and Hamlet, two of the most intricate characters ever created (Loki is a close third I think). He understands poetic verse and knows how to make it sound natural; that's why he was a no-brainer to direct Thor.

What other superhero flicks would tap into that style so well? I'm thinking Silver Surfer or Adam Warlock.
Surfer was a man that sacrificed his life (and soul) into servitude to save his love and his planet that he can never return, to an ageless monster that devours worlds. Totally Shakespearean in the language and epicness.
Warlock reads like epic poetry in it's galaxy spanning/time traveling/evil future selfs/soul gems/etc- Branaugh could actually bring it to the screen and make it make sense.

@CapA: good call, I'd watch the hell out of Branagh playing Dr. Strange!

If anything, Branagh could be Star-Lord, just out of my undying love for Guardians of the Galaxy...and a small prayer for an Annihilation Wave based movie. Have him act and direct it. Then cast Laurence Fishburne as Silver Surfer, Tim Curry as Thanos (motion capture), Andy Serkis as Rocket Raccoon (mo-cap!), Vin Diesel as Drax the Destroyer (they remade Drax as Riddick anyway), William Forsythe as Super Skrull and Emily Browning as Phyla Vell :)

@SCURVYDOG619 he cant play Balder, the person who plays balder in a future Thor movie (Thor 2 Fingers crossed) has to be the younger than Thor/Chris H. Odin stated in the first movie during the coronation that Thor was his eldest son/ His first born.
I could actually see him and Bernard Hill play Odins brothers Villi and Ve and see all three brothers battle Surtur in some sort of flash back during what i call the Surtur saga in the Thor movie series which im hoping will would be established in Thor 4-6.

In Thor 2 they must introduce Balder and explain his absence during the events of the first movie.

They must also explain the fate of the destroyer armour.
Ive been thinking they can still make the destroyer armour powerful like in the comics by saying the dwarf smiths of Nidavellir that forged mjolnir have now reforged a stronger destroyer armour on the onset of a vision of the Celestial forth host by Odin something they will played at for 4 movies before the celestials should be introduced (maybe Thor 5-9).

Also during the Surtur saga bata ray bill can be introduced. one could hope.

Sht i would have no clue as to when to do Ragnarock in the movies lol

How about Batman done in the style of MacBeth? "The Bat's the thing, wherin I'll scare criminals and beat them to a bloody pulp! - ing". I do think Strange is a good idea, but also I'm thinking Wonder Woman, with it's greek themes (since Whedon had his perfect project ripped away from him by short sighted soulless producers). Fantastic 4 might be a good fit, I have always been extremely impressed by the concept if not the realisation of those stories, given how timeless and simple the origin is (4 people turned into the 4 elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water).

He would be the perfect "older" Balder. Plenty of young British pretty boys out there to be the young Balder (pick one, I can't think of any right now, but they're out there!) but there's storylines of an older Balder--held captive by Karnilla, perhaps? Tricked by Loki?--lotsd of ways to work him in. Like the Villi and Ve idea, too. Too old for Dr. Strange to me, though.
