Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, "Thor," which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

"I've been so brainwashed by Marvel into never saying anything, or trying to obfuscate when it comes to the details of the plot, I almost don't believe it myself," Branagh joked when quizzed about the recent official announcement that Loki would be back in The Avengers.

"I will be fascinated to see how the character develops, because he leaves our film in a very interesting way, I think."

"He's done an absolutely sensational job," the directed added when asked about the version of the script he's seen for the superhero team-up. "It's no mean feat, so I'm awash with admiration for what he's done."

And having met with Captain America: The First Avenger helmer Joe Johnston to review the 3D sequences for their respective movies, he also revealed exactly what he thinks about the upcoming WWII movie: "I've seen a few [scenes]. It looked absolutely fantastic."

Thor is out now, Captain America: The First Avenger is set to be released on July 22 later this year and The Avengers will finally assemble on the big screen on May 4, 2012!

Loved Thor. Absolutely fantastic movie. However I am still scared about the Avengers, specifically if one of those "leaked script" spoilers are true.

Did anyone see if the Infinity Gauntlet was in Thor? I didn't see it displayed in Odin's Relic room? I did see the Cosmic Cube shown at the end of the credits thou.

Thor was just an entertaining action movie. While it was better than the Incredible Hulk and much better than Iron Man 2 it was far from a great movie imo. The action scenes were were very good and the humor was better than expected but it all seemed a little too unimportant as if nothing bad was ever going to actually happen. I liked it, it just wasn't "great."

Did not see the Infinity Gauntlet, dont think they actually put it in the movie. DEFINITELY saw the Cosmic Cube.

It makes me wonder if we'll see Loki form an Evil Brotherhood of other villains who want to obtain the Cube.

Ive been on a page where it shows all of the things in Odins Weapons room. But all you see is the Warlock's Eye, Tablet of Life & Time and the Orb of Amagotto.

Here is the link.

You can see the infinity gauntlet, but its not shown in the movie.

@ CaptainDusty and Markus316 the gauntlet was there only for a brief second. When the destroyer was beating the front giants in Odin's trophy room. In the background of one of the short halls.

He is a hell of a director and did Thor proud. By the way, did anyone notice FOX helped with post production on Thor? I saw that in the closing credits.

I just saw Thor this Saturday and I have to say it was so much more than what I expected. Though Ive skimmed through ,I've never actually read a Thor comic so I came in the movie theatre expecting the worse. The action scenes seemed as though they were taken straight out of the comics. Asquard was breathtaking in every aspect. Every character was portrayed well even if they did not have huge screen time. I loved how the director grounded Thor on Earth. It really made me symphasize with Thor. Helmsworth surprisingly gave a great performance. Loki couldnt have been played by a better actor. Hiddleston was just cast perfectly. This definitely has me excited about Avengers and Thor 2. I would say my only nit pick would of been to see Thor kick ass with his Helmet. Loki fought with his on and Odin did as well. I was curious to why the Director chose to have him without his. Other than that little gripe I thought it was a fantastic movie. My expectations for Captain America are that much higher now. Great job marvel !!

To me, Thor was very good, not great. Still, It was a good introduction of the character and it's on par with Marvel's best CBMs so far.

I think the main reason is that the writers played it too safe with the story but I can understant that selling a warrior whorshipped as a god from another dimension (world) to the non-comicbook audience is no easy-task. However, if there's a sequel, I want to see more thunder and a more complicated story.

I saw the 3D trailer of Captain America: The first avenger when I watched Thor yesterday and after seeing it, I got the feeling that this movie is going to own in 3D. The action sequences looked GREAT and the shield looks INCREDIBLE!

I'm glad so many people seem to like the movie but all the things I felt going into it turned out to be true, so I can't say I was even let down. It was just okay and for them to come out with an okay movie for my favorite comicbook character was a real bummer. Still, I'm not trying to rain on anybody's parade; so I'll just offer up my critique starting with what I liked.
*I like how they captured the splendor of Asgard. It was reminescent of the comics. They captured some of the imagery.
*Hemsworth surprised me and won me over with his ability to play Thor.
*The acting overall was good. Nobody really disappointed. Along with some of the affects, it made the movie watchable.

Now for what I didn't like...
* They committed the cardinal sin of short changing us on the story. It was rushed. The plot had too many holes in it. There was practically no character development. What little there was was shallow and rushed. I love Thor and I love the characters but there was little in this movie that tapped into that.
* Costume designer needs to be let go for any sequels. The helmets worked better than I thought they would but overall, they've got to let go of trying to please the fan boys and find away to make the transition to earth more believable.
* Some of the special effects were tired rip offs and looked fake. Most of it we've seen before and it didn't translate well to Thor. My biggest complaints in this area were Mjolnir and Thor flying. Both lacked the majesty that a Thor movie deserved. It seemed like they were satisfied with mimicking the comics instead of making them believable. Every time Thor weilded Mjolnir we should have felt it like a force of nature. When Thor whipped it around his head it should have felt like a Tornado brewing. When he threw it and hit someone we should have saw lightning and felt thunder. Then when Mjolnir comes back to Thor it should fall into his hand like a leaf falling to the ground...soft and gentle.
* Did show a scene of Thor's strength without Mjolnir. Part of the beauty of Thor is he's a super hero hammer or not. His strength is on par with the Hulk, Superman, the Thing, Colossus, Hercules etc., That part of him should have been explored too. It was all about Mjolnir in this movie.

The real test will be how Thor does long haul. I see you guys hyping up the movie like it's the greatest thing comic book movies have ever seen but I think most people will be disappointed...most of all because of the lack of story. This is a bad sign for the Cap movie. I'll still go see it but it just seems since Iron Man one, the Marvel movies are getting progressively worse instead of better.

I'm still optimistic about the Avengers though because of Josh Wheedon, but Marvel needs to get the hell out of his way and let him tell the story without trying to please everybody and their nerdy cousin. ITS ALL ABOUT THE STORY! You'll only make Dark Knight kind of dollars if you tell a good story.

goldilock, well said, looking and acting like a comic book only goes so far, there has to be a story worth telling and the characters should in turn fit around that, not the other way around. I did like Thor, but it isn't in the same league as Batman Begins or the Dark Knight.

ironpool, haha, that'll piss a lot of people off...Fox, helping Marvel?.....They've been helping Marvel for 12 years!!
PrinceOfPower87
PrinceOfPower87 - 5/10/2011, 4:42 AM
@goldilock

I agree with almost everything you said.

I think the lack of majesty of Thor in the movie is due to the lack of lightning and thunder.

I hope Marvel hire another writers should Thor get a sequel. Marvel needs to pen a way better story in the sequel that creates the same kind of excitement among audience that IM, X2 and TDK to name a few did.
