Marvel and Disney are planning the release of THOR 2 on July 26 2013 with most of the original cast set to return and Don Payne set to write and now Brian Kirk as the director. I've seen other people's visions of how it should turn out and compiled their ideas and put my own spin on it.
In THOR, we explored three out of the nine realms:
Asgard: Home of the Gods
Midgard: Home of Humanity, otherwise known as "Earth"
Jotunheim: Home of the Frost Giants
In the sequel we should explore at least three of the other realms, and use the others in THOR 3. These are the ones they definitely have to explore in THOR 2:
Vanaheim: Home to the Vanir, the masters of sorcery and magic.
Niffleheim: Home to Hel, Land of the Dead.
Muspelheim: Land of Surtur, Home of the Fire Demons.
Here are my ideas for the actual plot of THOR 2:
In the aftermath of the Avengers (we still don't know this but I'm going by assumption) Loki is banished to eternity in Niffleheim (Loki is too important to kill in The Avengers and I really hope they don't kill him) After the Avengers leave to go their separate ways whilst still close in contact with S.H.I.E.L.D, Thor decides he wants to meet with Jane again only to discover she fallen for Keith Kincaid, another astrophysicist after she had given up on searching for Thor a long time ago. Soon after, Loki finds the wreckage to the Bifrost in Hel and rebuilds it to get to Vanaheim to find The Enchantress so he can plot with her to kill Odin, and wreak havoc on Asgard by sending her to Earth to steal the Cosmic Cube and summon the Wrecking Crew and giving them the Fire Demons to assist them in destroying Asgard. They also capture Jane as a part of their plan. This is all done as a trap so they can kill Thor and claim Asgard and from thereon Earth using the Fire Demons of Muspelheim for both feats.
THE EXECUTION OF THOR 2
The tone:
THOR 2 should be darker and edgier than the first but it still needs the same humor of the first, in smaller dosages.
The character changes and events:
THOR
He should be the same humbled being he was at the end of the first movie but we need to see him fight like hell and see his rage as everything he knows falls apart around him.
SIF AND THE WARRIORS THREE
I know my plot explanation does not feature them, but they should stick by Thor as he continues his battles. This couldn't have happened in the first due to Thor's exile. This way they can have important moments in action and in character. To keep things interesting, Sif should have a sort-of attraction to Thor but this doesn't need to be explored too much.
JANE AND KEITH
Jane was a pretty cool character in the original and I don't think Darcy is really needed in this sequel. She was funny, but I can't see much for potential for her in the series. This romance cannot and must not give too much deja vu of Spider-Man 2. Keith should be a nice guy and not too cocky but not too mellow either, that way the audience will feel their chemistry and judge whether Jane should be with him or Thor.
AMORA
The story should be: she was from Asgard, she tried to use the Cosmic Cube to summon the Wrecking Crew and the Fire Demons to claim Earth for Asgard in 1050 AD and failed when Odin discovered what she did and therefore he permanently exiled her there. She discovered the Roots of Yggdrasil on Earth and used them to get to Vanaheim where her magic was restored and she took it over. Loki has the brains and Amora has the know-how, together they will be unstoppable.
WRECKING CREW
Both Loki and Amora, as powerful as they are, are not quite powerful enough to destroy Asgard by themselves. They should have an uber-powerful army by their side to fight with them. The concept of Thor has countless material to mix and mash up with, and each of the members could simply be typical S.H.I.E.L.D workers pre-powers and afterwards, major destruction ensues at Amora's command although they still have minds of their own and aren't completely sure what to do with the Fire Demons unless imposed upon by Amora.
Why this plot should be used:
With the introduction and story of the Enchantress and Loki being the Marvel Cinematic Universe's equivalent of Magneto, it can follow from the Avengers while still being a solid enough sequel to Thor. This sequel is also a lot more based in realms other than Earth therefore giving us fans what we want.
The budget:
This should be $200 million at least. We will all be captivated by the visual splendor of Hel and Muspelheim and it'll be visually like nothing we have ever seen before, and Asgard's designs will look even more beautiful than the designs in the original. The 3D really ought to be filmed in this one as I wasn't impressed with original's post-converted 3D.
The overall lowdown:
THOR 2 should have the chance to captivate us in the way the original did with many people and should have the chance to be even more successful with critics and the box office than the first was. With these precautions, it could earn its place with SPIDER-MAN 2 and THE DARK KNIGHT.
