THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER - Peter Dinklage Seemingly Confirms His Return As Eitri

Peter Dinklage played Dwarf King Eitri in Avengers: Infinity War, and the Game of Thrones alum has now seemingly confirmed that he's set to reprise the role for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Eitri in Avengers: Infinity War, where he helped Thor, Groot and Rocket forge the God of Thunder's new weapon of choice, Stormbreaker. The Dwarf King hasn't been seen since, but a rumor recently did the rounds that Dinklage is set to reprise the role for Thor: Love and Thunder.

While speaking to Empire (via MCU Direct) about his latest film Cyrano, Dinklage was asked about a possible return as Eitri, and while he didn't outright confirm anything, his response is very telling! “Well, there’s another Thor movie there, isn’t there? Coming out that Taika’s directed. But, I didn’t say anything. I didn’t say anything.”

Dinklage might simply be having some fun with the rumor here, but it certainly sounds like Eitri will play a part in the next Thor movie. If we had to hazard a guess, we reckon Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) will make their way to Nidavellir to enlist the Dwarf's skill in reforging Mjolnir for the latter to wield.

We were never given any indication that Eitri may have been killed-off post-Infinity War, but even if he had been, Dinklage is fully aware thar death isn't necessarily the end for a character in the MCU.

“If you die in a Marvel movie, doesn’t mean it’s your last Marvel movie. That’s the crazy thing, it doesn’t matter. Somebody could make a TV—now, there’s TV shows. It’s Marvel World, we’re just all part of it.”

Thor: Love and Thunder blasts into theaters on July 8.

I've never watched Game of Thrones so I have no frame of reference for this guy other than his brief cameo in IW, which I enjoyed. I just didn't understand the internet bitching about his "voice". What exactly was so bad about it? I thought he was fine in the role.

@Feralwookiee - He literally sounded like the voice Star-Lord put on to make fun of Thor but as his actual character voice.

@Feralwookiee -

Never watched GoT either but c'mon, you're telling me you've never seen Elf?

Ah, continuing to play his dwarfism for laughs, then. Good to know Pete is still a massive hypocrite for pulling the ladder up behind himself and robbing other people with dwarfism the job opportunity in the Snow White remake.

But I thought he was over playing up dwarfism for laughs, which Ragnarok did when they made his character his complete opposite making him giant...

@ModHaterSLADE - he wasn't even in Ragnarok, and nobody in my theater any of my viewings laughed when he appeared.

@Armageddon26 - It was Infinity War and the theater I was in DID laugh, because it was a funny subversion of the typical trope with dwarfs. Yet Peter Dinklage is a massive hypocrite and is pulling the ladder up behind himself by not allowing other dwarf actors to take roles because they’re ‘backwards.’ And he is the most prevalent voice on the subject in Hollywood so of course Disney listened to him.

You know I don’t think this movie should have trolls, really trolls have enough jobs. They work hard, harder than most fairy creatures

@TheWalkingCuban - I don’t know about that. I know some fairies that work pretty hard. On their knees all day type of hard.

He should give his role up to an actor that potentially lost a role in the Snow White movie.

@Fares - Don't know if you're aware, but Sindri and Eitri are actually the same person from the myths.

@Odin - oooh I didn't know that, thanks for the info!
Could we get some interpretation of Brok in there as well maybe?

Why is he talking about Eitri's death? Was there a hint that he died?

You write seemingly confirms in the headline, which again doesn’t mean anything, then quote in your article that Dinklage doesn’t outwardly confirm anything.

Seemingly confirms is an oxymoron and by definition doesn’t mean anything.

Peter Dinklage plays coy about a potential appearance in thor.

There’s your headline Ror

Would be better if Hela never destroyed Mjolnir but instead spun an illusion of it's destruction and left the hammer on the ground to be found by Jane.

Speaking of Dinklage, is nobody on the internet going to mention that he's incorrect when saying the seven dwarfs live in a cave??? If you watch the movie, they clearly WORK in a cave but live in a house.
