Tom Hiddleston Reveals That THOR 2 Will Start Shooting This Summer In London

Taking part in Empire's web chat, Tom Hiddleston has revealed that he knows pretty much nothing about the planned sequel, only when and where it will be filmed. Read on for more.

It looks like Marvel Studios enjoyed filming Captain America: The First Avenger in the UK so much that they'll also be bringing the God of Thunder to this side of the pond later this year. Exactly how much will be filmed in London is unclear (as is whether these will be scenes filmed inside or outside of a studio) but we'll be sure to keep you updated with more details as and when we have them.

"I have no idea. And without revealing too much, there's a specific skill set you need to be [in] Loki's army - let me know if you have the qualifications. And all I know about Thor 2 is that we're supposed to film it in London in the summer and that it's being directed by Alan Taylor."

@grif I think Tom Hiddleston is signed on for six films (probably a Thor trilogy, The Avengers, and a couple other Marvel films), so his return in Thor 2 was inevitable. I'm fine with it as long as he isn't the main villain.

hmmm maybe Marvel stopped killing villains for the sake of continuity. So far the only villains that got killed are Vanko and Stane, the rest are still alive: Blonsky, Loki, Red Skull. Maybe they have other plans for them.

I'll be seeing Thor 2 at midnight. I saw the first one 6 times in the theater. Great film in my up onion.

Really glad they got Hiddleston for Loki. He's probably the best actor in the movie so it's good he's the main villain.

I didn't think they had a script yet. Anyway, I still believe we will get three Avengers flicks before we see a sequel to Thor, Cap. Iron Man 3 will be the only one green lit. Marvel won't want to over saturate the market and fatigue audiences with the same characters with a movie every summer. They know the Avengers and Iron Man are their cash cow. I say there will be no movie in 2013, The Avengers sequel in 2014, and an Iron Man sequel in 2015, with the final Avengers film coming in 2016. After that RDJ will leave.

RidiculousFanBoyDemands: You realise that THOR 2 has been confirmed for 2013 and Marvel Studios are releasing two movies in 2014, one of which is almost guaranteed to be Captain America 2, right? Don't expect to see The Avengers 2 until 2015 or 2016.

It's not my fault the First Third and fifth time I saw it I was falling asleep. I would have seen GL more than twice and Captain more than once but circumstances prevented that.
I didn't see X-MEN First Class once cause I'm hard like that fool.

Maybe I'm just high and I actually only saw it 4 times.
But I do have glasses like that. Russian Scott at the sk8park didn't like the film either. I watched over a dozen times trippin on mushrooms and loved dat $h*t.

In my opinion no. Let's be real, Cap and Thor by themselves are B list hero's at best. So was Iron Man, but a great first movie and Robert Downy Jr. changed that. However, have them team up with the Hulk and Iron man and suddenly they are on the A list. The thing is neither movie really wowed audience. People aren't as familiar with the hero's or their rogue gallery to really care. Outside of hardcore comic book fans nobody is really clamoring for a Thor or Cap sequel and I think Disney knows this. They know how to make money and that is why I said they will shoot the Avengers sequels back to back. I firmly believe this will make a billion dollars world wide (like Spiderman and Batman). Thor and Cap movies served their purpose. Plus honestly I would love more Avengers movies and less solo flicks. I feel the quality would be much better that way.
