The live-action adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson‘s comic book series The Boys is currently shaping up to be something special. The Amazon series already has Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who have experience adapting Garth Ennis’ work with AMC’s Preacher, onboard the production as showrunners. Then there is the series' impressive cast, which includes Karl Urban (Thor: Ragnarok) and Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad).
Now, the Amazon series is enlisting more talent behind the camera as they bring in the Black Mirror and 10 Cloverfield Lane director, Dan Trachtenberg. Currently, Trachtenberg is only set to direct the pilot episode for the series, which shouldn’t prove difficult for the director who has experience with film and television.
Also, to commemorate Dan Trachtenberg’s arrival, the showrunners of the Amazon show have released a statement praising the director and noting the fact the Trachtenberg is a comic book fan himself:
“Dan’s a massive fan of the comic like us, and we’re massive fans of his, so we’re excited to have his more talented skill set brought to the show.”
Amazon’s The Boys is currently aiming for a 2019 release date. So keeping this in mind, along with Trachtenberg signing on to direct and the recent casting announcements we can probably expect production to begin soon.
