Those of you who have been visiting this site for a long time will remember that Supernatural star Jensen Ackles was once a fan-favourite choice to play the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Captain America. Needless to say, that didn't happen, but the actor has been given the opportunity to play a superhero in the upcoming third season of The Boys.
That will see Ackles reunite with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, and he recently took to Instagram to show his intense training regime for the popular Amazon series.
In the video below, Ackles turns to the camera after lifting weights and admits that "these superhero workouts are much different" before joking "it was so much easier when all I had to do was wear flannel" in a cheeky nod to his time playing Dean Winchester in The CW series.
In the post's captain, Ackles even gives props to Arrow alum Stephen Amell and The Flash's Grant Gustin noting that he's "beginning to understand their struggle."
A few different characters have held the "Soldier Boy" mantle in The Boys comic book series, so it's unclear how he'll be portrayed in the show. It definitely sounds like Ackles will be playing a key role in season three, though, and his part is expected to be more than just a one-off cameo appearance.
