Melissa Benoist's Supergirl costume appears to be heavily inspired by Henry Cavill's Man of Steel Superman threads based on the texture and crest design.  While generally well-received, many fans were hoping for the traditional Supergirl look, while others thought the design would be closer to the New 52 version.  Have your own your thoughts on the costume? Take the poll below and continue the conversation in the comment section.

Supergirl will star Melissa Benoist (Glee) as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks (True Blood) as Jimmy Olsen,  Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal)  as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh (Grey's Anatomy) as Alex Danvers,  David Harewood (Homeland) as Hank Henshaw aka Cyborg-Superman, Faran Tahir (Iron Man) as "The Commander", and  Laura Benanti (Nashville) as Allura Zor-El.  Former Superman Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman ) and original Supergirl (1984) actress Helen Slater round out the cast in unspecified roles.

It's better than I thought it would be, but why the tights?

It has a MOS influenced texture, which I like, but it's not blatantly trying to replicate it

I think it's good and I think it could've been muuuuch worse lol. The skirt on Supergirl always struck me as kind of silly looking, but it also wouldn't feel very Supergirl if they didn't have it for the show. Overall I think they did a good job. And I like the Man of Steel vibe to it.

I like the costume, but she doesn't look like she fits as Supergirl. BUT I'll reserve judgement on that.

Can't believe people are seriously attacking the decision to cover up her legs.

It's sexual, as is the breast revealing outfit. And the comic designers of that outfit very purposely drew and created it that way.

Sex appeal sells, it's as simple as that. This is a design I can take seriously, for one. The costume looks great. The problem is whoever took this shitty photo. The photo itself is horrible.

Think it looks okay, looking forward to seeing it in action. I can also understand the reason why she is wearing tights, even though I don't necessarily agree.

I think the movie may go along these lines:

Although Faora wore trousers so maybe Supergirl will as well.

I really hope this show and Titans are in the same universe as Flash & Arrow. They could have the craziest TV crossover event of all time!

I don't have a huge problem with the costume; she just doesn't much look like Supergirl to me.

YEAH, DC should just become a cookie cutter studio like Marvel and start churning out substandard Movies every year. Yay! Then we'll have two studios putting out shit.
