Ahead of the "Elseworlds" crossover, The Flash will air its landmark 100th episode, and it's shaping up to a doozy of an hour as Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) takes his daughter Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) on a dangerous trip down memory lane where they cross paths with a number of the biggest and baddest villains the Scarlet Speedster has ever faced.

The new promo isn't particularly spoiler-y, but we do catch a sneak preview of the returns of the Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh), Zoom (Teddy Sears), and Savitar (Grant Gustin) - and those are only the secrets we know about.

Expect the episode to feature a number of other surprises that should be welcome treats for fans.

"What's Past is Prologue" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

TOM CAVANAGH DIRECTS THE 100TH EPISODE - In the 100th episode, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Team Flash come up with a plan to stop Cicada (Chris Klein). Meanwhile, Sherloque (Tom Cavanagh) takes his concerns about Nora to Iris (Candice Patton), and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) turns up a key asset in the fight against Cicada. Tom Cavanagh directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Lauren Certo (#508). Original airdate 12/4/2018.

Matching wits with The Thinker, who by season’s end had harnessed the powers of all twelve bus metas he created, stretched Team Flash to their limits, but with the help of some new allies, Barry Allen (aka The Flash) and company were able to put a stop to the Enlightenment and save Central City once again. However, with the arrival of Barry and Iris’ speedster daughter, Nora, who arrived from the future admitting to having made a “big mistake,” things are anything but status quo. Will parenthood be the challenge that finally slows The Flash down?

The Flash features:

Candice Patton as Iris West-Allen
Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost
Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe
Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells
Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West

Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash
Violett Beane as Jesse Quick

I thought it was a pretty good episode with the only weak spot being that they didn't do much with Weather Wizard's return and the introduction of his daughter Weather Witch. I thought after the hyped Rogue stinger in the Rag Doll episode that this was going to end up being related but it wasn't. Maybe it's not the right time for it yet and that plot thread has not been discarded.

Beginning was pretty tense with Barry and Cicada almost running into each other at the hospital while looking for the girl's parents. That doc saved the bad guy for a change there with the truth that Grace's parents are death which was actually true. Turns out he isn't her actual father but her uncle that begrudgingly took her in once his sister (and her husband?) passed away after a metahuman attack.

Cicada AKA Orlin Dwyer really sucked at being her guardian but pulled himself together when she called him out on how much he hated himself to be anything worthy so this guy already was self-loathing before she was strucked by the satelite's debris. It my seem irrelevant now but I wonder why he was like that prior to this. He didn't seem to be mourning much for his sister unless he was compartmentalizing it, but Grace ended up being all the family he had left too, now all he has left is that doll house they were building together in their rundown house his borrowed from a cousin.

Rest is history: Enlightenment happens, he gets hit by the shard that Barry and Nora punched and the wound glows every time he commands the dagger and Grace's in a coma. Add an unchecked comment from the same doctor on how it's the metas' fault and tada, Cicada is born.

So besides why he self-loathes before he took her in I wonder why the dagger did not activate when Barry was on the other side of the hospital room's door. Maybe not close enough. And also why is the police looking for him?

Sherloque's cranky after 7 marriages for Thanksgiving and it was contagious, found the way Killer Frost can now willingly switch in and calling him out and Cisco for acting like Debbie Downers funny. So was when Barry and Caitlin messed up the pies.

Nora's fright understandable, all this time she just had the Flash Museum build up for her this ideal and flawless image of Barry when in fact he's had a lot of close calls and him literally dying for a few seconds was believable till she resurrected him. But it wrapped up nicely with the "run dad, run" speech.

Whoever ran the Museum's facts was very selective in not including when he entered the Speed Force to save the city in S3 and just leaving the singularity from S1. I bet it did not include either when he created a time remnant to sacrifice himself to stop E2 Zoom's machine for example.

They really made me think they killed Weather Wizard lol, but it was just a good ol' hologram. Was pretty surprised as wellat how quickly Barry reacted and took Mardon to the pipeline to protect him from his daughter.

Fitting that before the 100th episode Barry once again ran opposite a tornado but this time an electrical one to stop it with the weather wand. And firing his own lightning to counter Weather Witch's was just like when he and Future Flash/Savitar did it after he revealed himself, just epic.

They’re using the pipeline to keep locked all the metatech they're running into, the weather staff being the latest addition.

“I’m the Flash for my family and I don’t have to run to the future to understand why I sacrificed myself. I do it to save you and your mom and all the people I love,”, great quote.

Missed Ralph though, that wasn't explained compared to Joe and Cecile enjoying the holiday at her parents' and, obviously, Jesse L. Martin's medical leave.

And finally they identified Cicada. It's on now.

I love Arrow more then all the other shows. But I miss the Flash being the best show on the network. Even season 2 was really good. But I’m waiting for the Flash to have its redemption season like how Arrow had season 5

I also read this on YouTube and it’s true: pretty much all big bads' origins are the causes of a butterfly effect. Reverse-Flash goes back in time to kill Barry, it leads Barry to be who the hero he is meant to be, the singularity led to E2 Zoom, Flashpoint led to Savitar, getting Barry out of the Speed Force led to The Thinker and the bus metas and the Enlightenment and the STAR Labs satelite led to Cicada.

Nice to see Teddy Sears as E2 Hunter. I wonder if Grant Gustin will appear outside the Savitar suit and with the whole burnt skin make up and if it also explained how the remnant ended up looking like that better.

As well if Matt Letscher managed be there to portray the Thawne's real face.

Here for the next 100! 👌

Klein is incredible. The harder he tries to "act" or show any emotion...the funnier he gets. When the episode ended, I almost laughed myself off of my recliner. Bravo !!!

Last night's episode was so baad. That Weather Wizard fake out was something that Ralph should have done using his shape-shifting ability. The writers keep force-feeding Iris to the audience.

It's also so stupid when you have Barry ask Cisco how to use the weather wand, he's done it twice already IIRC.

And the dialogue on the show keeps getting progressively worse. I don't know why the writing on the show has become so substandard.

Danielle Panabaker answered where Ralph was on Twitter to none other than Hartley Sawyer.
