WATCHMEN Set Photos Seemingly Focus On The Wild West Origins Of Hooded Justice

Last week, set photos for Watchmen started doing the rounds revealing that this sequel to the legendary graphic novel will feature a documentary series about Hooded Justice. Since then, comic book fans have been speculating that his story will play out in this show similar to Tales of the Black Freighter as a side story of sorts which runs parallel to the main narrative.

However, this latest round of images points to what looks like a flashback to the Wild West/Civil War era as we see what may be the original Hooded Justice and someone the version we know actually inherited the mantle from when he joined the Minutemen.

Hooded Justice was a closeted gay man who was in a relationship with Captain Metropolis but he hid that by pretending to be in love with Silk Spectre. He even went so far as to brutally attack The Comedian when he learned that his teammate had sexually assaulted her. It seems the American Hero Story: Minutemen documentary could delve into that and more.

What are you most excited to see in HBO's Watchmen? Let us know your thoughts on that below.

Wait, it was explained that he attacked comedian after the sexual assault because he wanted to cover up his sexual orientation? Did the writers think gay people dont find sexual assault to be a bad thing?

@Origame - Wilding is just making crap up again. Guy was a vigilante, irrespective of his sexuality he isn't going to stand by and let someone get raped. Implying he only defended Silk Spectre to further his own cause is nonsense.

@DarthMauve - i guessed so. Right when you thought he couldnt get any lower, josh is now basically saying gay people dont care if women get sexually assaulted. How did he get so much power on this site again?

Wilding missing the point of a story...

@Doomsday8888 - well at least before he didnt claim that the only reason gay men would have a problem with sexual assault on women is to cover their own sexuality.

@BizarroGrif - I've been a member of this site since 2010 and have visited multiple times daily since I joined.

I'm just about done watching Wilding manipulate the users for clicks and dash off innacurate and purely clickbait 'articles'.

“Since then, comic book fans have been speculating that his story will play out in this show similar to Tales of the Black Lagoon as a side story of sorts which runs parallel to the main narrative. ”

What’s wrong with this statement??

On the topic of Wild West stories, I am wondering if Marvel ever considered a Phantom Rider or Kid Colt (or any other Mighty Marvel Western character) project. Especially after the success of RDR2 someone at Marvel must think a western must be a good idea

Now on the topic of this series. I am getting more and more excited for this. Ozymandias and Hooded Justice are already in this, so I am really wondering who else they are gonna put in it

So? This is the Hooded Justice we need? Not the one we want? Right? Just saying that's what we were told by the writer if I remember correctly.

This is a monumentally bad idea. Watchmen is a self contained tale with a beginning, middle and end. The ending intentionally leaves room for smart people to wonder what will happen next. Happy with a chance of the same thing happening all over again. Alan Moore is right to shun all offshoots.

This will be monumentally bad.
