New Report Claims That Hayley Atwell WILL Return In Planned AGENT CARTER TV Series

Last night, Deadline revealed that Marvel and ABC are planning an Agent Carter TV series. However, they also mentioned that it was "unclear" whether or not Hayley Atwell would reprise the role. Well, a new source claims to have heard that she will indeed return. Read on for details!

Considering just how popular her portrayal of 'Peggy Carter' was in Captain America: The First Avenger and the recent Agent Carter one-shot, it seemed like a given that Hayley Atwell would return as the fan favourite character for Marvel and ABC's planned television spin-off. Well, with the project still in the very early days of development, it was said to be unclear whether or not the actress is interested in reprising the role. After all, she now has a successful career on both the big screen and on many British television shows and it could even be a prequel. More to the point, Marvel Studios are by now well-known for recasting roles when necessary (Ed Norton's Bruce Banner and Terrence Howard's Rhodey for example). Well, The Playlist now claim to have heard that, "our sources tell us she will be back, with shooting to take place next year." How ddo you guys feel about this? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

I like Hayley Atwell and her character? But a TV series? I don't know. I wanna know who's writing and producing this series first.

This has about 600% more chance of being something audiences don't feel short changed by than AoS.

I'd watch both.

Heroes for Hire >>>>>>>>> Agent Carter

I love Haley Atwell and her performance as Agent Carter and this will be a great way to show the beginnings of Shield but I don’t think 2 spy shows at once is the answer. Diversify Marvel C’mon.

Let's keep the superheroes for the big screen (they tend to look cheap on TV). I don't mind seeing some period piece spy stuff on TV. Can be a lot of fun.

Wow an entire Marvel Universe full of more characters than any nerd on this site can name and you make a show about Peggy Carter? I say this gets as far as that Wonder Woman TV show. What a joke.

Punisher or Daredevil show or GTFO.

Umm..already reported on this site earlier.
I will say same thing here as I did there..DO IT.

Make a show with Haley, using a character not highly known will allow for less scrutiny of the details & nagging about how it's different from the comics.

Setting it in the past & showcasing the Marvel U from that period will be cool.
Atwell's boobs can guest star every episode!

I can see Agent Carter working on "Agents of SHIELD", but only in the same capacity as Slade Wilson on "Arrow".

If you want to show SHIELD's establishment in flashbacks, then you need to have Hayley Atwell reprise her role. And if Sharon Carter ever actually appears in that capacity, maybe she can have sort of a Black Canary sort of Golden Age role.

Yes you know it's not like Marvel has more deserving characters they can make into a TV show...

Like it's not like Daredevil, Hawkeye, Hulk, She-Hulk, Heroes For Hire, Punisher, Eleckra, Moon Knight, Black Panther, or many others deserve a TV show. But this character clearly does.

Come the [frick] on Marvel. No one give a [frick] about SHIELD or there agents except Sam Jackson.

Hell at least DC got the memo and put Green Arrow on TV and adding Flash.

Maybe Marvel is doing this after hearing Flash? You know like how everyone blames DC for reacting after Marvel does something?

Shit show, shit series. Do Daredevil [frick]tards.

This is so unnecesary.
There are other characters who deserve a tv show. For instance Heroes for Hire.
I am not saying this because of the "female lead" but I rather have a jessica Jones show, or Jessica Drew!!

Anyway, I guess if they are going with the Agent Carter show, it is good to have Atwell back

Rather watch her than some dipshit in red tights / leather.
DD is best as comic only. The Punisher needs a tv series on HBO/Starz/Showtime/etc.

In small part, I'm a big Marvel Studios supporter, so I would give this a chance, but honestly...

the real truth is I could watch Haley Atwell sitting in a chair and simply reading a book all day.

I like this idea. The one shot was good. This will be an interesting series.
I like the fact that Marvel aren't rushing to put superheroes on TV. Sure some would work fine but maybe it's safer for Marvel to test their MCU on the small screen with things like this and AOS. With this shared universe one failed project could have a big impact on future projects.
If Agent Carter was to fail, it wouldn't be such a big loss because she's not a "big character". If they made a Daredevil series and that failed, they would no longer be able to use Daredevil in the MCU.
I say this is Marvel being clever.

You guys need to stop thinking as superhero fans and think more like businessmen. This will be an ABC show. And who are ABC's biggest demographic? Women. And period dramas do great on TV these days. Agent Carter fits ABC like a glove plus they already have a very charismatic actress to play the lead role who has already been in the movies.

Everyone pining for Punisher, Daredevil etc on ABC, it won't work. Sure superhero fans will watch it but thats not enough to keep a show afloat. A manic, uber-violent, dark characters like Frank Castle wont fly on network television. Maybe on SHowtime or Starz but Marvel can't go to those guys

NO ONE can say this will suck as of right now.
We dont know story, the writer, the plot, or anything
But one can ask what in the world will they make it about

Like what can be told more about Peggy that would generate her own TV Show?

It would be awesome if this TV series took place both before Cap was frozen during WW2 with Peggy included in it so we could see more in depth with Caps WW2 days. Now THAT would be interesting. The Howling Commandos could be more fleshed out along with Cap and Buckys friendship with maybe even showing the Invaders

I'd rather make a tv series about an actual superhero. But then again, I'd watch anything from Marvel.

I think Marvel is a little bit more realistic about the what they can achieve on a TV shows budget. Superheroes lend themselves better to the big screen. And besides, this kinda stuff is what people watch on TV.

I think it's more likely we'll get some sort of extended one-shot (parallel storylines) involving Agent Carter on AGENTS OF SHIELD. A whole series (with the added expense of recreating period clothing, sets, etc.) seems like overkill.
