AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.: Secrets Are Uncovered In The New Promo For Season 5, Episode 15: "Rise And Shine"

They're baaaaack! As Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. heads into its possible endgame, an old adversary has resurfaced and now, Coulson may be facing the end of the world. Come check out the new promo now!

"Cut off one head, two more shall take its place. Hail Hydra!"

So, in an unexpected twist, tonight's closing moments revealed that General Hale (Catherine Dent) has actually been secretly working for the (unsurprisingly) still-active Hydra, who Coulson (Clark Gregg) and company had previously vanquished at the end of season three.

The true identity of who she's working for remains a mystery as the person was left in the shadows, but we did see him/her hand Hale a suicide pill that was very similar to the one used in the post-apocalyptic future, meaning that Hydra may, in fact, be the cause of the end of the world. In an post-episode interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen teased, "Hydra’s goals are almost always based in helping people and building a better world for all!," before adding, Sarcasm, it’s hilarious. Coulson holds a lot of keys on his key chain and we can only imagine they want one of them.

Watch the new promo for episode fifteen, titled "Rise and Shine," below:

COULSON DISCOVERS GENERAL HALE'S DARK SECRET, ON ABC'S 'MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.'

"Rise and Shine" - Coulson uncovers General Hale's true agenda, and it could be the end of the world if S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't help her, on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," FRIDAY, MARCH 30 (9:01-10:01 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand.

In light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been legitimatized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director (Jason O’Mara) to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack (Henry Simmons), and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans. They have been trying to track down and capture Daisy (Chloe Bennet), aka Quake, who has gone rogue in an attempt to atone for sins from the past. But with the world believing that Daisy is a dangerous outlaw who has taken down banks and bridges, the new Director has no qualms about taking her down for good. Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have taken a big step forward in their relationship. But with Simmons’ new promotion as Special Advisor to the Director in Science and Technology, Fitz, as well as her former team members, finds it hard to confide in or trust her since she’s now the Director’s confidant.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. features:
Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson
Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May
Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson/Quake
Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz
Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons
Henry Simmons as Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie
Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez
Nick Blood as Lance Hunter

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with an all-new episode March 30

Wow, what a crazy great episode tonight. Damn, that final scene with Gemma and Deke was extremely well done, it was emotional and very deep. The dialogue there was terrific. It was a really heavy moment, until Gemma freaking threw up! Lol. I also really liked the opening scene with the astronaut, really cool how they showed the fear forming. And they freaking mention Franklin Hall, I can feel Graviton drawing closer!

So Hale is infiltrating the Kree Confederacy? I was a little surprised to find out that she was the one calling the shots in her group, thought it was going to be the Superior. Interesting that she still accuses SHIELD of what happened to Talbot when she has the person responsible with her. What she said in response was intriguing. So I'm guessing that the fact that she has the Superior's head means can force him to carry out her plans, rather than his own. I feel like there's something more with that whole scenario. But the big WTF moment with her is that she's with the Kree Confederacy! Wow. So I'm guessing she's infiltrating them? Also, that can't be Kasius' father right? Because his father sent Kasius to claim earth. Wonder which Kree that is. I wonder how Hydra will be brought back considering they were eradicated by Talbot. Very intrigued by next week's promo and the fact that SHIELD and Hydra may put their differences behind them to protect the world against a common enemy. So many questions!

And finally, and most importantly, lets talk Fitz! Let's give it up to Iain De Caestecker who did an incredible job tonight. MVP of the episode for sure, he did a fantastic job portraying the two Fitz's. And I did not see that big twist coming. I was wondering why Fitz wasn't doing anything to kill off his fear and why he was acting so weak and in fear when we had seem him act as a badass in the future. So the split persona aspect was really neat and well done. And damn, that was a brutal scene with Daisy. Fitz had to truly become the thing he feared most in order to save everyone.

@HeavyMetal4Life - if i recall, kasius' father didnt send him to earth to claim it, but exiled him there after he failed to hold a strategic outpost. this was well after the earth was destroyed. i do believe it is kasius' father. whoever he is though, we do have his name, Qovas

@lemric - So after watching the promo some more, it seems like Coulson is being warned of the Kree warship (which would have Kasius) heading towards Earth. Perhaps this Qovas is a Kree deserter??

@HeavyMetal4Life - i dont know. im rewatching kasius scenes, and he keeps referring to his father's confederacy. in the space finale, he says his father, who had better vision than the race that shunned him, called the earth a hidden blue gem. he and his entire confederacy wanted it for their own.

in the same scene, he also talks about the family tradition of drinking the odium. plus the symbols in the background were also on the computer screen in the premiere right before they got attack by the kree for the first time.

so either this confederacy was legitimately trying to bring the earth in to protect it from something else(like the kasius family), or its a double cross where they are setting things up to make for an easy takeover

@lemric - haha I was just reading about this on my own. Yeah, its really interesting. Lots of questions. If Hale is working for the Confederacy, then why would she want SHIELD and Hydra to team up? Someone certainly isn't as it seems, either Hale or Qovas.

Now that Hydra has returned, I would like to see Zola again, if only in a brief scene.

After his cameo in Agent Carter, everything is possible.

@Repian - I wish they had just made him the villain of Agent Carter season 2 instead of Mrs. Goo or whoever that lame villain was.

one of the things i love about ian's protryal as fitz, is how he starts contorting his hands when he gets stressed. its something that started in season 2, when he was dealing with the brain damage. they basically phased it out by the end of the season, but its a nice little touch that continues to present itself whenever the character gets stressed

@lemric - they also brought back a little of his stutter, or at least difficulty in figuring out what he was trying to say. I love how they've been referencing stuff in earlier seasons with these past few episodes.

Fitz worrying in the end of S4 that he was or had the potential to become like Ward after his experience inside the virtual reality and he ended up realizing his worst fear was to become like that other version of himself from the Framework instead. I am glad they went into that and dropped that nonsense of Ward because it didn't made sense.

Funny how there isn't any talk about the other parts of the episode like Anton (lol) or Absorbing Man's bomb, it was eclipse by the Fitz plot.

And considering Daisy wasn't herself in S3 due to becoming kind of addicted to Hive's power and also was off in early S4 I think she should take it easy on Fitz who has gone through a lot worse than she or anyone else in the team.

Hydra being back is logical even if predictable and formulaic, but that is how things are with these things. No F4 without Doom, no Supes without Lex, no Batman without Joker, not Cap without Red Skull, no Aquaman without Black Manta, no Flash without Thawne and no SHIELD without Hydra.

@NinnesMBC - If this is to be the last season. I'd want them facing down their nemesis.
