Mentallo & the Fixer on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

It's possible that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is doing what many fans are saying they're not- building on the MCU by adding characters from the comics. If this works out, would it change your opinion of the show?

Some fans are complaining because Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” show isn’t connecting the dots quickly enough for the wider Marvel Universe but I would have to argue that they absolutely are…just much more subtly than we are used to. I contend that SHIELD is bringing in characters and concepts such as Hydra, Graviton, and even old SHIELD enemies Mentallo and the Fixer. What? Mentallo and the Fixer? Yep. I’m pretty sure that episode 5, “The Girl in the Flower Dress” introduced those very characters, staples of the Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD comic book series.

My reasoning? The end of the show stinger in which the titular girl in the flower dress is discussing the specifics of her mission with a guy behind bars. That guy is, I believe, Norbert Ebersol, the Fixer. They discuss talking to “the clairvoyant” which can only be the Fixer’s frequent partner-in-crime, Mentallo. Hell, the duo was so popular as a criminal team that there’s even an industrial band named after them. For those not familiar with who Mentallo and the Fixer actually are, here’s a quick breakdown: Mentallo was originally a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a candidate for their ESP Division. He teamed up with the Fixer in an attempt to take over S.H.I.E.L.D., and the pair fought Nick Fury. They then became employees of Hydra. The Fixer is a technological genius, able to create pretty much whatever he needs, while Mentallo is a psychic who, at times, has been shown to be on the same level as Charles Xavier and Emma Frost. With all the clues pointing to “Centipede”, the mysterious group in the show, actually being a resurgence of Hydra (after all, both have multiple appendages- a centipede has multiple legs and a hydra has multiple heads) this could be leading up to the team coming up against the MCU versions of this pair.

Mentallo and the Fixer are perennial adversaries of SHIELD and it just makes sense to make these guys one of the overarching “big bads” that Whedon is so fond of. What do you guys think?

Good prediction.. I never thought about Mentallo & The Fixer but those would be 2 characters they could definitely use on the show considering their connections with S.H.I.E.L.D.

This sounds very plausible. As for Mentallo, they would just not call him a mutant. Problem solved. He has more ties to shield, avengers and modok than the xmen. And if there was a problem, you could just rename the character to Mentallus or the Thinker. Or just stck with the clairvoyant.

I actually have a source that I can't name who has confirmed some of what I mentioned in the article but I can;t say what they actually confirmed. I know that sounds pretty evasive but I've known this person for a long time and there is some genuine insight into the Whedon camp. Other than that, I figured out most of this on my own and when I asked if my source has actually heard anything to this effect, the source was pretty surprised and said "You're one of the few people I know who probably figured that all out."

@Batmanrobinnightwing WRONG!!! Scorch from the comics is a MUTANT. Raina from the comics is a MUTANT. That is already 2 mutants they have used. Have they said they are mutants? No but it is obvious they are able to use some mutants.

Centipede is a thing, not an organisation. Rising Tide is the organisation.

This show is absolutely building forward. The tone, seriousness, drama is all inc4easing with each episode.

So many on here have been dissing this show, with many predicting its doom, that it'll last only 1 season (Josh Wilding in particular seems to enjoy reporting the ratings drops. Something tells me that if ratings were holding steady or rising that he wouldn't consider it newsworthy.) And yet, what show made the cover of the most recent TV Guide, in their "Hot List" edition of the best shows on TV? Yes, Agents of Shield. I don't think they would do that for a failing show. The article does mention the slipping ratings, but also mentions that AoS is doing very well in key demographics, being the #1 show on Tuesdays among men from 18-49, and one of the top 3 shows among affluent young adults, which advertisers will love. It also mentions that AoS gets a lift in ratings when you factor in DVR watching. I've mentioned this before, but AoS is doing very well considering that it's up against the #1 show on TV, NCIS.

AoS could be so damn amazing, yet each week it fails to deliver. This show would already be gone if it didnt have the Marvel tag.
With all these new shows coming to Netflix, Marvel has got to step up their t.v. game and try to write scripts that will pull in non comic fans.
With such fun and entertaining movies, why get lazy with t.v.? Marvel could be ruling the small screen.

I know these are semi confirmed, but I still think the controller is somehow involved. We still don't know who controlled the chunky guy with the eyeball.

I still get a feeling Skye is jessica drew. They are definitely setting it up that way. Everything with her parents names being redacted from her orphanage paper work.

I think that the skye father is one of that two characters...
