Ray Park Still Wants To Play "Iron Fist"

Ray Park Still Wants To Play "Iron Fist"

MTV is reporting that the "GI Joe" star is still coveting the much sought after role of Danny Rand in an "Iron Fist" movie.

At last weekend's Wizard World Chicago, an audience member asked Park(Darth Maul, Snake Eyes, Toad) what his dream role would be...

"I actually want to be Danny Rand -- I want to be Iron Fist, I want to do it," Park said. "I've been blond before. I'll work on the American accent as well."

Park joked that one of the main reasons he wants the role is to shake off his trademark ninja clothes and Sith robes for something a bit more revealing.

"I want to have an excuse to take my top off and show off my abs," he joked. "Or, take my top off and work to get my abs back that I used to have when I was 19."

Park was previously attached to the role back in 2001 when the movie's rights were held by Artisan Entertainment. Now that the rights have reverted back to Marvel, Park said that if we do see Fist onscreen it will be right beside his Heroes For Hire buddy Luke Cage!

"If they ever do an 'Iron Fist' movie, it's going to be with the two [characters] teaming up," he said.

No doubt Park is an amazing martial artist and he was hands down the best thing about GI Joke. But the only actual acting skills he has shown were in "X Men" when he played Toad. The results were...not great! But hey, it's been years since then, so who knows how he has progressed. I say let's see what ya got sir!

Thanks for the pic Leee;)

I think he would be perfect for Iron Fist. The movie would be better if they had both Iron Fist and Luke Cage together kind of like a Lethal Weapon movie or Tango and Cash type of feel to it.

He would be great at almost any hero

Hell yeah Ironknight27! I like that, Tango And Cash, Lethal Weapon, maybe a Rush Hour feel...GOTCHA! Yeah, minus the Rush Hour. Ok, back to work.

I liked him as toad. But he didn't have much of a chance to show any acting skills, just a small line of dialog here and there.

Hey guys, new to this site. I believe that Ray Park would do awesome as Iron Fist. He deffinitely has the martial arts aspect down. And I deffintely would rather see him in a movie with Luke Cage rather in a solo movie. (maybe they could bring in other characters from Heros for Hire for cameos or for future films??) Peace :)

hi phileo26. Im new too, welcome. I think heroes for hire always did better than luke cage and iron fist seperatly. comic book wise.

Stumblin- I liked Rush Hour. But yeah if they do a Heroes for Hire I hope they do have that sort of feel to it.

Actually I hear that the Iron Fist solo book is a great read right now. I have been meaning to catch up.

I beg to differ. Ray Park did well in his various roles on screen. Ballistic, Daredevil, the more recent Taken. This is his time. Let him kick some f'ing ass.

Guys - yes he is an excellent martial artist, but let's face it... he can't ACT his way out of a paper bag! Plus, there's his accent to deal with (why do you think he was dubbed in 'Phantom Menace'?). He's a glorified stunt double - let him stick to what he's good at.

Daredevil? Was he in that?

Guys, Rush Hour?? Are you frakking kidding me?

I met Ray Park at a convention and he was the nicest guy. A bunch of us went out for drinks and we ended up drinking in his room and we were watching TV and on TBS I think had that movie with ANtonio Banderas and Lucy Lui (I forget the name) and Ray Park plays the bad guy in it and he popped up on the screen. Ray Park was so excited to see himself on TV. He deserves to be a lead in some movie.

damn sir prize....
I never thought about him in that role...he would kick ass as Dare Devil...good idea.

he got the look n skills for Matt Murdox but like he said... he needs to work on his american accent. I think that might hold him back a little. Off the break movie exe know they will have to cast a voice talent. like Darth Maul.

I wonder who voiced him.
snake eyes is perfect, lol

Dont forget he played in Ballistic: Eck vs Server

Scorpioxfactor: Yeah... he wasn't in Taken nor Daredevil.

In the early post here, someone mentioned him playing Daredevil, and though I think he'll do a shit-ton better than Ben Affleck, he still doesn't have the acting ability to do a good Matt Murdock.

I think he'd make an excellent Iron Fist... or perhaps (I can't be the only person who's thought of this)... Ronin. Though seeing him as Hawkeye would work, the Clint Barton he fits best is Obviously Ronin... but he did say he wanted to shed his Ninja attire

Nah, not DD. Hes far too short and not exactly Matt Murdock handsome is he?

Saber, no i did not like Rush Hour. Chris Tucker makes me want to punch a baby. But even if i did, its a buddy slapstick comedy movie! Is that what you really want to see Heroes For Hire become?
ironknight27
ironknight27 - 8/11/2009, 12:25 PM
Ror-Not Slapstick but more of that love/hate relationship like in Lethal Weapon.

Ray Park cannot act! And if he and Jason Scott Lee have showed us anything, it's that some people have a "knack" for something whether they grew up training for it or not. Jason Scott Lee didn't know how to fight before he shot Dragon yet he was so good he learned right before shooting and actually fought like the real Bruce Lee when compared to Bruce's previous films. Ray Park however doesn't have the "natural" acting talent and has done [frick] all in regards to acting classes. He sucked in X-men and needed a voice over in Star Wars. If he really was that passionate about the role, he should stop focussing so much on his next martial arts gig and start acting classes NOW! I say Statham would be a better Iron Fist for the moment. Oh and by the way, Matt Murdock requires much much more acting talent than whatever Statham AND Park could ever deliver on their best day!!! Matthew Fox or Clive Owen for Daredevil!!!

I think Park could pull it off with a major acting workshop like Shaman says. He looks perfect for it..and obviously can kick the requisite ass.

ironknight27 sorry i get you, yeah that part of it would be vital i would say. A Lethal Weapon 1 type chemistry.

Ray Park is the man, but I couldnt see myself wanting to watch an Iron Fist movie. As you guys said before, though, if they had Luke Cage and did a heroes for hire movie, that would be cool.

first of all, i'm a ray park fan...for what he does. but you know, there IS a reason he always plays silent roles, or gets voiced over. i'm not so sure i'd want him to play iron fist, even if he can fight
longbowhunter

I dont see Ray Park as an actor. Let someone else play Danny Rand. Park can do the stunts and show his abs all he wants to. I guess I'd be okay with that.
