Krysten Ritter And Melissa Benoist Prove That There's No MARVEL/DC Rivarly

Proving that the Marvel vs. DC Comics debate only really stretches as far as internet forums, Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter has had a very fun social media exchange with Supergirl's Melissa Benoist.

There's been a lot of unnecessary debate about which is better; Jessica Jones or Supergirl. A big part of the comparisons being made seem to stem from the fact that these are the only two superhero shows currently out there featuring female leads. Well, two people who have no time for that or the Marvel vs. DC Comics rivalry which has recently seen the likes of Anthony Mackie and Zack Snyder get involved are Krysten Ritter and Melissa Benoist. Check out what they had to say below.

Rivalry?

Supergirl is the worst comic book disaster ever put on any kind of a screen. 0/10

Jessica Jones was very good. 8/10

Haven't started watching Supergirl yet but I've heard its not very good,as for Jessica Jones fantastic series.

Highlight for me was Luke Cage, especially Luke Cage Vs Jessica Jones.

Jessica Jones was probably the most disappointing MCU related thing this year. Really underwhelmed with it. Not bad by ANY stretch but underwhelming.

No CROSSOVER!!!
Courtesy of comicbook dot com

There are no current plans to crossover The Flash and Supergirl, according to Greg Berlanti, who runs both shows.

Over the holiday weekend, rumors hit that Supergirl would visit Central City and meet with the cast of The Flash. Early reports indicated that it would be a condition of Supergirl's full-season pickup, in order to goose ratings for both shows during May sweeps.

Today, though, Supergirl got an additional order of seven episodes and, following a screening of The Flash/Arrow: Heroes United, this week's two-night crossover event on The CW, Berlanti denied the reports.

"Only because we just received the pickup," Berlanti told reporters when asked whether preliminary discussions for such a crossover had happened. "But not at this point."

@SageMode

let me know when Marvel and DC start playing a competitive sport or game where points are tallied and a champion is declared!

Your reasoning is flawed.

Yeah, this rivalry only exists between the immature fanboys and your Anthony Mackies/Matthew Modines who need to break out the ruler whenever they get a chance. The women, meanwhile, are like

A "rivalry" is at worst petty and stupid. At best, it's good natured ball-busting.

But comparing the studios' strategies and approaches to making movies, television, and even the comics themselves is, and always has been, reasonable. When it's done reasonably.

The Jessica Jones/Supergirl comparisons are largely pointless. Just because they have female leads doesn't mean they are trying to do the same thing. And I'm always happy to see the actors involved in these projects (good/bad/anything in between) taking pride in being a superhero. It warms the cockles of my half-Vulcan heart to see these characters having this kind of cultural cache. The Fraternity (and increasing Sorority) of actors who wear their capes proudly is only a good thing for the genre.
