Marvel Studios just dropped the first trailer for Secret Invasion at D23, and it looks set to be a very different show to the one many of you might have been expecting.
While the comic book version of this story was an epic event pitting Earth's Mightiest Heroes against Skrull shape-shifters in an all-out war, this take on Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu's blockbuster adventure is every bit a spy espionage thriller. That's not a bad thing, though, as the Disney+ series once again looks like something new for the MCU.
In the trailer, it's made clear that no one can be trusted, and while the show's characters aren't identified, that A-List cast gets the chance to shine here. Interestingly, the Secret Invasion preview kicks off with Nick Fury returning to Earth and ends with what may be an imposter of the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director arriving on the planet...well, that or he's just cleaned himself up!
In related news (seeing as Rhodey also appears to have a big role in Secret Invasion), Marvel Studios has once again confirmed that Armor Wars is on the way.
First announced at that Disney Investor Day presentation at the end of 2020, it appeared to fall by the wayside after The Multiverse Saga started taking shape. It's definitely still coming, though, and we're guessing it will pick up not only with the fallout from Secret Invasion, but Ironheart as well.
