SHE-HULK Supposedly "Not Shaping Up To Be Very Good" Due To Potential Creative Issues

We're taking these claims with a pinch of salt, but a new report claims there are rumblings in Marvel Studios that She-Hulk "could be a problem" based on how it's shaping up so far. Read on for details!

We've heard a lot of strange rumours about She-Hulk, including the possibility of Deadpool-style fourth-wall breaks and even a cameo from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. While there's no way of knowing whether any of that is true, it certainly sounds like the Disney+ series will be vastly different to previous MCU-set adventures.

Could these reports explain some pretty wild claims from Jeff Sneider on his podcast? The former Variety and Collider reporter (who now writes for The Ankler) claims to have heard that there are issues with She-Hulk that are causing concern in the hallowed halls of Marvel Studios (via The Direct).

"I've heard not good things behind-the-scenes," Sneider alleges, "and I've asked whether it's Moon Knight or Ms. Marvel or Secret Invasion or any of these [projects], they are always like, 'She-Hulk is the one that could be a problem.' I've heard it from people working on it, from people actually working on it who are just like, 'We'll see.' I think that's a lot of Marvel things, honestly, and you know where it's just like, 'Ugh, this could be really stupid, like we'll see.'"

"I'm sure people making Guardians of the Galaxy felt that way, right?" he continued. "And most of the time [Marvel] pulls it out. But there will come a time where they won't, that's just the laws of moviemaking, the laws of numbers."

Eternals wound up being Marvel Studios' first "Rotten" movie, ending a perfect streak of "Fresh" releases since 2008. That alone proves there's a chance She-Hulk could fail to hit the mark, but we're not reading too much into this for now. Sneider has a spotty track record, and how better to promote a podcast than to share a rumour like this about an upcoming MCU TV show being in trouble?

The series is still set to arrive on Disney+ later this year, so only time will tell on this one. As Sneider notes, there were once plenty of claims that Guardians of the Galaxy would be Marvel Studios' first flop, and it ended up leading to one of their most successful franchises. Remember, there's plenty of time to "fix" She-Hulk with reshoots, so we're not going to be losing too much sleep over this one.

I could see how it could possibly be cheesy. But I’m still optimistic. She-hulk doesn’t take itself too seriously.

@HulkisHorny - She-Hulk comics have been known to be silly and comical in the past. Not all of them. But it's certainly not unheard of. There are entire She-Hulk runs that don't take themselves seriously.

This show always kind of sounded like a bad idea to me though.

@CorndogBurglar - every idea, even the bar ones, can have an angle to make them brilliant. The right creative mind behind even the worst IP can turn everything around and make a hit.

She-Hulk has just as much potential as anything, so long as they have the right people making it.

Don't believe it but from the sounds of it it actually sounds differnt💁

*We'll see.' I think that's a lot of Marvel things, honestly, and you know where it's just like, 'Ugh, this could be really stupid, like we'll see.'"*

Sounds like a production assistant that has no clue what's going on. No context and just sees a scene and is like : this dumb🥲

It would be shame, if this turned out to be true, since I like She-Hulk as a character and the rumored scenes sounded like stuff that was all over the John Byrne run (which hasn't aged perfectly and has moments that would be seen as problematic today, but IMO is still overall fun light comedy series), but let's keep in mind that there were also all kinds of rumors of The Batman having some behind the scenes drama.

he didn't say there was any specific thing "wrong" with it, just that it could prove controversial. I guess the comedy aspect could play a part in that, but who knows. we haven't even seen a full trailer for it so I guess we'll see, even the weakest Marvel entries are still better than most other offerings.

Sounds to me the one dude Sneider (lol) talked to just doesn't like this kind of comedy.

@Menks123

Not saying he’s on the money but he said this isn’t the first person to tell him the shows having issues.

lets be fair, one of the best MCU entries has a talking space raccoon in it, what works or doesn't depends on who's making it.

by the way, the phrase "Not Shaping Up To Be Very Good" is nowhere to be found in the dude's actual claims, sooooo what gives?

Lol. This sounds like some BS right here. My Marvel inside, who reads all the scripts and sees footage way before everyone else publicly, said a few months ago that She-Hulk was the series she was most hyped about.

I remember when they announced "Guardians Of The Galaxy" and a friend of mine said "this is dumb as shit" and I said "dude, GOTG are a great bunch of characters: They have a talking racoon and a talking Tree that only speaks his own name. They'll be the next big thing" And here we are : Rocket and Groot are now part of pop culture. I'm waiting "She Hulk" to be a comedy so they have to make something like "Ghostbusters"(2015) for me to not like it. I really love the character and the cast seems to be on point, so...I really don't think, based on this comment in this article, that this is a problem in Marvel Studios. It sounded me like "I heard that a friend of mine heard from his neighbour who lives next to Kevin Feige's assistant that She Hulk isn't gonna work".
MUTO123
MUTO123 - 3/26/2022, 4:04 PM
@cocaegelo - I was one of those guys saying “I don’t know if this Guardians thing is gonna work.” Then they hired Gunn, and I relaxed. And look at them now.

cocaegelo - 3/26/2022, 11:10 PM
@MUTO123 - hahaha yeah, I totally understand you (and my friend). This article about "She-Hulk" (other websites made the same headline) looks more like someone throwing shades at the series but without any trace of proof at "what isn't working". In the last years when a movie/tv show started bad and someone had a insider leaking something it was something substantial like what happened with Powerpuff girls, justice league, chaos walking and other IPs.

Mook Knight is the only high Hope's I have for any of these shows. Loki was the best so far. Outside of that they're all...
