THE PUNISHER Set Photos Offer A Much Closer (And Disappointing) Look At Jigsaw THE PUNISHER Set Photos Offer A Much Closer (And Disappointing) Look At Jigsaw

Some awesome new photos from the set of The Punisher have surfaced today and these not only feature great shots of Frank Castle in action but confirmation that this version of Jigsaw isn't that scarred.

Just Jared has shared some fantastic photos from the set of The Punisher which provide an even closer look at that gunfight between Frank Castle and his old friend Billy Russo. While the small screen version of the character has a very different origin story, season one ended with the vigilante slicing his face up in a shattered mirror and given the amount of blood, it was clear he'd never be the same again.

However, it's clear from these images (which you can check out by clicking on the link in the Tweet below) that Billy really isn't too badly scarred and he's a long way off from looking anything like his comic book counterpart. After all, while it wouldn't be nice looking in the mirror and seeing that face staring back at you, this version of Jigsaw really isn't that ugly and it's fair to say he's a disappointment.

What do you guys think? Was a more grounded approach to Jigsaw in The Punisher the right move or should the Netflix series have stuck a little closer to the source material? Share your thoughts below.

As always, I'll reserve judgment until I see the final product...

@MuttonMan - Hey look at this. Someone making sense.

I'm not that nipticky with these kind of stuff but...c'mon, that f**ker better get so messed up to the point his face look like a distorted puzzle, c'mon Netflix you know you got the money for that. Anyway looking forward to S2, LOVED the first one.

I don't like this movie but this is great

McNulty elevates every role he’s in.
Spock0Clock - 5/31/2018, 2:25 AM
@KingEmperor -

Rawls: "Where don't you want to go, McNulty?"

McNulty: "Just as long as you don't got me on some protection detail, guarding some stuck-up princess from some hick swamp planet. I'm police, sir, not a babysitter."

bkmeijer2 - 5/31/2018, 3:53 AM
@Kevwebsz - That was actually pretty haunting the first time I saw it
RolandD - 5/31/2018, 4:29 AM
@Kevwebsz - That looks a little too cartoony for me. I would like it if Russo looked something in between the pic above and those from season two in this article.

If that's all it's definitely feeling a bit disappointing right now.

That dude has a great plastic surgeon.

On the other hand, I remember thinking his cuts didn't look that bad if he got proper medical attention.

I'm hoping there is more to it (like subtle facial prostheses he can remove for effect), but I'm not holding my breath about it. You can do your own googling to see how effective they are in real life, and how easy it would be to fake one for the majority of a TV series (it's not really something I would post myself, for a variety of reasons).
Pedrito - 5/31/2018, 7:36 AM
@Spock0Clock - It wasn’t really clear how damaged his face was, since it was all bloody from scratching the broken mirror. But he didn’t get the deep cuts all over the face like the comic book version.

Maybe it’s not his final form yet haha
Spock0Clock - 5/31/2018, 8:13 AM
@Pedrito - I'm not a fan of "not the final costume" excuses, and I definitely don't want to go down the "not the final scars" road, lol...

Whatever complaints and concerns I may have about the series, Bernthal makes it all worthwhile. Dude's a beast and brings a really earthy lived-in quality to Frank. That's a goddamn Punisher.

My only regret is having seen him in Walking Dead first, where there is some unavoidable overlap between Frank and Shane that could have felt a hell of a lot fresher and stronger if I'd seen Punisher first.

Meh. I should wait until the show comes out to reserve my judgement, but I mean how do you go from looking like this at the end of Season 1:

To looking like this during Season 2:

I just guess my expectations are just too damn high.
bkmeijer2 - 5/31/2018, 3:48 AM
@LadiesmanBumble - He still is somewhat a good looking guy. Expected his cheek to be a bit more [frick]ed up
LadiesmanBumble - 5/31/2018, 5:25 AM
@MalseMarcel - Absolutely agreed with you. Jigsaw should look like the aftermath of what would happen if Ben Barnes fell face first into a pool filled with cheese graters.
SimpleeComplex - 5/31/2018, 2:16 PM
@LadiesmanBumble - Lol He is still a beaut.
Doomsday8888 - 5/31/2018, 2:35 AM

I don't even need to say anything. :/
CaptainElrond - 5/31/2018, 2:58 AM
Maybe its like fake skin, frank punches him, it comes off. Just a theory for a disapointed fanboy who can't admit they [frick]ed up a little and disappointed her.
Nightwing1015 - 5/31/2018, 3:01 AM
@LosingitCipher - Like Jerome in Gotham.
CaptainElrond - 5/31/2018, 3:03 AM
@Nightwing1015 - Yes Exactly. Except it looks a bit better than that though. Nothing against it, it looks a litle tomatoe saucy.
