VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Pushed Back One Week; Inches Closer To Showdown With DUNE

Sony Pictures has delayed Andy Serkis' Venom: Let There Be Carnage again, but this time, it's only been pushed back one week. The film stars Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson in the leading roles.

After jumping to September earlier this month, Sony Pictures has moved upcoming Marvel Comics sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, back one more week to September 24.

It's a slightly curious move, because while it averts a clash with Universal's The Boss Baby: Family Business on its previous date, it will now open opposite Paramount's Infinite, Warner Bros.' The Many Saints of Newark, Universal's Dear Evan Hansen, and Searchlight's The Eyes of Tammy Faye. On the bright side, it does move further away from Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which recently moved to September 3.

This delay also sets it on a potential collision course with Denis Villeneuve's Dune, which opens the following week, and MGM's No Time to Die (October 8), which will serve as Daniel Craig's final outing as Agent 007 James Bond.

The Venom sequel will see Academy Award-nominee Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight RisesInception) return as the titular antihero with an all-star supporting cast consisting of 3x Academy Award-nominee Woody Harrelson (True Detective; Zombieland) as Carnage, 4x Academy Award-nominee Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine; Fosse/Verdon) as Anne Weying, Reid Scott (Veep; Late Night) as Dan Lewis, and Academy Award-nominee Naomie Harris (No Time to DieMoonlight) as Shriek.

Stephen Graham (The IrishmanSnatch) and Sean Delaney (Killing Eve; Midsomer Murders) have also been cast in a pair of undisclosed roles.

Golden Globe-nominee Andy Serkis (Breathe; Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle) is directing with a screenplay from Kelly Marcel (Venom; Fifty Shades of Grey).

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the film will feature the live-action debut of one of Spider-Man's most deadly foes, Carnage, and will pit him against Venom in a battle for the ages.

Closer to Dune? I think you mean further away from Shang-Chi.

@TheUnworthyThor -
I can almost see Shang-Chi going to D+ for day and date release.

Push it back a year if you desire. I just want to see an official trailer, or the 2nd official trailer. Just not a teaser like we got for the first Venom; it was fine, but not what anyone wanted.
