The official Facebook page for the game just released this image for the upcoming video game tie in for The Amazing Spider-Man. We've gotten a look at some teasers and trailers before, but this is our first hint at what the actual gameplay will look like.

Created as an epilogue story occurring entirely after the events of the movie, the game features the return of free-roaming web-slinging all over the city and evolutionary improvements to navigation and combat, as the newly anointed Spider-Man is plunged into an all-new storyline charged with protecting Manhattan from a variety of criminals. The Amazing Spider-Man is in development at veteran game studio Beenox, and features an original narrative crafted by Hollywood writer Seamus Kevin Fahey (episodes of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica) that continues young Peter Parker's adventures following the events of the new film. Using the game's new Web Rush mechanic allows players to pull off a vast array of moves never before possible. With a story that takes players through many areas all over (and under) Manhattan, fans will feel what it's truly like to be a Super Hero, as they experience the cinematic adrenaline rush of web-swinging through the city and fighting crime using Spider-Man's spectacular acrobatic moves and attacks.

In case you missed it, here's the trailer released previously by Marvel for the game:

The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled to hit stores this summer, in time for the movie's release date of July 3rd.

it looks really good BUT I kinda don't like when they make games follow on from the film... its like when they make a sequel to the film is it going to follow the events of the game or just follow the film. It just confuses the canon. Why not base it on the film with "bits you didn't see"

Damn those are some nice graphics. Suit looks pretty cool and I hope maybe this will be the first movie game that won't suck.

Robots!... Why always random robots?!

Spidey has his own villains you know!
Why not someone like Doctor Octopus, Hobgoblin, Venom, Green Goblin, Kraven, Electro, Mysterio, Scorpion, Chameleon, Kingpin, The Robot Master, Alistair Smythe, Silvermane, Morbius or The Lizard goddamit?

I Guarantee Beenox isn't dumb enough to not give us extra Spidey costumes.

Finally going back to an open world Spider-Man game!!!! Don't worry about the robots people, these are video games, not movies. There will be plenty of villains to fight. Hoping that since it's open world you'll be able to go down into the sewer systems and fight Lizard :)

Aha, Mirror's Edge I thought the buildings looked familiar... Greatest gaming event ever EA takes Activision to court (Disney provides lawyers and Activision wins).

Dammit can we stop with the movie/video game tie-ins, every superhero movie does not need an Animated cartoon & video game that comes out all at the sametime. Most of them suck cause only have a short time to work on them, it takes time to make a good game just like it takes time to make a good movie. Try Doing Both Hollywood!

I find the lack of pedestrians on the street disturbing. I could be like the Incredible Hulk official movie game. Looks good and based on a game formula that works, but completely lacking in population to make it seem less involving.
Mrcool210
Mrcool210 - 1/27/2012, 5:53 PM
@SGA there abviosuly gonna be people in the streets, they said ull feel like spider-man, thus random crimes, thus people in streets
