VIDEO GAMES: SAVE THE GAMING INDUSTRY By Supporting The “Why I Game!” Book

Author Gina Johnson, aka CBMer Dogiojoe, needs your help in finishing her first book. Her mission? Prove to the world that video games contain multiple benefits to society; and that the news agencies/politicians need to see that blaming one mans’ actions does not define the entire industry.

“Playing video games saved my life! Now I’m trying to save it in return.”
- Gina Johnson

Gina Johnson is a disabled female gamer, and she is tired of people blaming video games as the main reason for all the mass casualty events. She is stepping up, and she hopes that you will too.

“People think that gamers game just to have fun… and while that is true, there are many more reasons why people game.”
-Gina Johnson

From birth to about age 10, Gina literally grew up in a hospital. Going through multiple procedures, and surgeries made it hard for Gina to have a “normal” childhood. Many times she almost went crazy, but the one thing that helped her from becoming so, is gaming.

Playing video games helped Gina “save her sanity,” but now gaming is being criticized, and she knows somebody has to defend it. Otherwise, down the line, gaming may become illegal if politicians have their way. So she decided to write a book… titled

Why I Game!

'Why I Game!' is exactly how it sounds, it’s a book about why she and others play video games. Most people think that gamers game just to have fun… and while that is true, there are many more reasons why people game.

Some reasons like stress relief, increased hand-eye coordination, plus healthy benefits for both PTSD veterans and seniors over fifty-five.

Here book will not only explain those increased benefits, but she’ll show the statistics right from the source. Not only that, but also included, is a short autobiography explaining her history and experience as a gamer.

Learn more about her mission, and if you can, support her and the book by going to:

What's funny to me is that statistics aren't on the side of the people blaming video games. It's just an easy soft target.

Violent video games don't even correlate with the increase and/or decrease in violence crime statistics. People and Politicians believe it because they rely on what there gut tells them. They just feel as if it has an effect so it must have an effect.

@ kevberg

You just lost your argument to your self. If you banned all "Violent" material, those people that are Violently mentally ill will engage in Violence because they're --->Violently<--- mental Ill and not because they saw a TV show, Movie, or played a Video game. Those type of people have have been killing for thousands of years before there was digital media to watch. They don't need a picture to do the things that they do. What your doing it's like blaming the smoke for the fire.

Grand Theft Auto V earned 1 BILLION dollars in 3 days. I really, REALLY don't think the gaming industry needs saving. It'll be doing just fine without this book.

That's one thing.

Secondly, why the need to point out that this author is a disabled female? Why not just a gamer? That's a grab if I ever read one.

Third--NOW gaming is being criticized? Gaming has CONSTANTLY been criticized. From the days of Super Mario Bros ("This will rot your brain") on the original Nintendo, until now...this is nothing new.

I think there are pros and cons to everything and that includes video games. I don't think its fair for one side to just list the cons or the other side to just list the pros. Ultimately I agree with the book's bottom line which is that we as a society need to stop blaming other things for the actions of one evil individual.

Also, Gina, you are really cute.

I do play video games, yes, yes. And I do love my violent video games, yes, yes. Why do I love such a thing? Because it's escapism. It allows me to wish I was doing something but in reality I don't really need to do it to another living human being. It's been obvious since the dawn of time that us humans need something to ease the mind a bit and move away from this rugged reality. If you kill off the video game industry than you are no better than the people who play it.
This is all old news for my government now as we appear to have "pressing issues" that riot our society to its core. There was one stage where the Australian government tried to eliminate violent video games and almost videogames in general. They were fools to try to do such a thing, and they realised that if you are going to take away the one's will to play the video game, and then what stops movies and books to be taken away as well? Video games is just another medium in this cinematic world, and taking it away is taking away part of your culture.

GTA5 went over 800 million dollars on day one. I don't know what's the point of this book. Do they think nobody cares video games or the industry needs some support to survive? c'mon!
