Production on Lionsgate's upcoming live-action Borderlands movie officially commenced last week, and to mark the start of filming, Jamie Lee Curtis has shared cast silhouettes for Lilith (Cate Blanchett) and her kickass crew of Roland (Kevin Hart), Dr. Patricia Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Krieg (Florian Munteanu), and Claptrap (Jack Black).

The synopsis reveals that the video game adaptation will follow Lilith on her quest to find the missing daughter of the universe's most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Edgar Ramirez). She'll recruit an unexpected team and embark on an epic journey where they'll be forced to battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power.

Horror maestro Eli Roth (The House with a Clock in Its Walls; Death Wish) is in the director's chair, utilizing a screenplay from 2x Primetime Emmy-winner Craig Mazin (ChernobylThe Last of Us)

The film's all-star cast features Jamie Lee Curtis (HalloweenKnives Out) as Dr. Patricia Tannis, 2x Golden Globe-nominee Jack Black (Tropic ThunderJumanji: The Next Level) as Claptrap, Janina Gavankar (The League; The Way Back) as Knoxx, Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity WarLove and Monsters) as Tiny Tina, Florian Munteanu (Creed IIShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as Krieg, Olivier Richters (Black WidowThe King's Man) as Krom, and Haley Bennett (The Magnificent SevenThe Devil All the Time) in an undisclosed role.

No release date has been set just yet, but the film is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2022.

Two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett teams up with Kevin Hart in director Eli Roth’s Borderlands. Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot.

These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. Based on the game from Gearbox and 2K, one of the bestselling videogame franchises of all time, welcome to Borderlands.

@Kumkani - Be nice if Square Enix put some attention towards the two major games they have released that have been broken since Launch rather than pushing another new game. Avengers and Outriders. If those games are any indication of the support they give their Dev Studios then i am not interested in anything other than Single Player games from them.

This movie seems like a good opportunity for me to finally start the Tales of the Borderlands game I bought a long time ago, but never played
