Latest Official LOGAN Image Gives Us A First Look At Stephen Merchant's Character - Is he Playing Caliban?

Caliban actually appeared in X-Men: Apocalypse, but it looks like the rumor that Stephen Merchant would be playing a different incarnation of the mutant bloodhound in Logan was true after all...

Continuity has never exactly been a The X-Men movie franchise's strongest suit, and that's never been more apparent following the release of this latest Logan image from director James Mangold.

A recent rumor suggested that The Office co-creator/writer Stephen Merchant was going to play Caliban in the final Wolverine flick, but fans were hesitant to believe this as that character had only just appeared in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, as played by Tómas Lemarquis.

Now, while there's a chance Merchant is simply playing a mutant that looks a hell of a lot like Caliban, it does seem unlikley when paired with the rumor. Take a look at the pic below and see what you think.

UPDATE: Here's the latest pic from the WponX Instagram. Fairly self-explanatory.

I have seen alot of post from people talking about this casting and I just dont get their complaints tbh. They say that the xmen are [frick]ing up continuity with this casting because the actors that play caliban in this and in apocalypse are roughly about the same age (more or less)idk I guess Shit anyways with that said no one is taking into account that stephen could just simply be plaing an older version of the character from apocalypse which is heavily supported by that picture

@TheRealMandarin - Fair enough, but why not just cast the same damn actor? Or cast Merchant in Apocalypse in the first place? There must be little to no communication between the different filmmakers Fox hires for these movies.

@TheRealMandarin - Stephen Merchant and Tomas Lemarquis are about the same age. Apocalypse and Logan are at least 40 years apart. The characters don't look significantly different at all really.

@RorMachine - I'm going with absolutely 0.
