Alan Cumming Hasn't Been Asked To Return For X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Despite recent comments from James McAvoy suggesting that Alan Cumming will be back as Nightcrawler in the next X-Men film, the actor now says that he hasn't heard anything about a return as the fan favorite mutant.

Yesterday, we heard comments from James 'Charles Xavier' McAvoy on the impressive ensemble cast of X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and he mentioned Alan Cumming (who played Nightcrawler in 2003's X2: X-Men United) as one of the actors in the film. Many took it as a slip that we'll be seeing a return from Nightcrawler in the Bryan Singer-directed "inbetweenquel". However, we have now heard from Cumming himself on the report, and in an interview with Sirius XM, he says that he hasn't heard anything about reprising the fan favorite role. And even if he is offered a role in the movie, it doesn't look like he would be able to return. "No, they haven’t [asked me to return]. Someone asked me that the other day and I said no. I know the one that’s coming up shoots this Spring, but I wouldn’t be available anyways. I dont think they have. I was gonna meet my manager for dinner later, I was gonna ask him, but no, I’m sure they would’ve told me, had they approached." Are you disappointed that we likely won't see Nightcrawler in the next X-Men?

X-Men: Days Of Future Past stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult and Omar Sy. The film is set to hit theaters July 18th, 2014.

He is way too old to play Nightcrawler anyway. Bring in a younger version

Jesus, the communication between everyone involved or potentially involved in this film has been terrible! First Singer is all "Stewart and McKellen are back" and then they say they haven't signed up, but then do...then Mark Millar is discussing his working on the film and loads of details about it, then Singer is like "wtf man? I haven't even talked to you!" and now this... I really hope this won't be apparent in the final film...

@Gusto lol

Wow! People here are fickle. The guy nailed it last time. He brought a load of pathos and depth to a small but pivotal role in X2.

No need to recast.

funny things are happening with this movie. first mark millar starts to reveal the whole concept of the movie then singer comes and say he never talked to him and says that millar is not involved. Singers says Patrick stewart is in the movie then later the actor says he isn't, now this.

Disappointing. Cumming did great as Nightcrawler. I love the character though, so I'm still hoping they bring him in, recasted or not.

recast. it would be great to have him back but if he is unavailable i would rather have the character than the actor. sorry Cumming, you know i love you.

Although Cummings did a great job as Nightcrawler, I do agree that Nightcrawler should be much younger.

He was dead in the Days of Future Past alternate future but however he was very alive when the X-Men were trying to help stop the assassination of the senator if I'm right.

(Not really much to do with N) but...Colossus and Kitty are supposed to be a couple in the Alternate future as well so I pray that they at least get that romance right. Colossus fought to death to make sure she wasn't killed...

Im so on the fence. I defend fox cause I loved x1 and x2. X3 was a disappointment for me. When first class was coming out I thought it was a reboot. Even after fox said it wasnt, I was sure they would change their minds so I kept believing it was a reboot. All the way up until they announced this film. I liked first class even though they changed some things, but it took things too far off from the other films.

Point being im not sure we're gonna get the movie we deserve. Its not an original story. Their taking a story that already exists in the books and making it their own. Usually I would be ok with that. Except their just gonna try to get it to fit with the other films. They pay too much attention to that and not the story itself, and it could be horrible. The movie itself cant be considered a live action adaptation of the film cause its gonna be drastically different. So im having a hard time trusting the fan within myself. Is it original? No. An adaptation? No. A reboot? No. FILLER. Yep. At least in my opinion. Not to mention we cant really trust fox to fix all the stuff that doesnt make sense. They dont have much of a track record with these films going well together do they? Seems like they cant even communicate with each other. Sorry if you dont agree. Just my opinions. I really want to be proven wrong by this movie.

So as of right now Azazel and Nightcrawler, two of the most interesting and cool looking characters aren't gonna be in this movie? I just don't know about this flick man.

I dont get it. Nightcrawler made the first opening minutes of X-Men 2 whether the movie was good or not that begining was amazing but, what do we know were just the supporters of the movie you'll make money off of if we see it.

I guess they couldn't make him a Nightcrawler skin. It's not easy when you're working with tons of makeup.
One less reason for me to see this movie.

Wouldn't surprise me seeing how much he bitched about the make-up and said he'd not likely every come back and deal with the makeup process unless the money was good enough.

Lol.
