Alan Cumming Hasn't Been Asked To Return For X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
Despite recent comments from James McAvoy suggesting that Alan Cumming will be back as Nightcrawler in the next X-Men film, the actor now says that he hasn't heard anything about a return as the fan favorite mutant.
Yesterday, we heard comments from James 'Charles Xavier' McAvoy on the impressive ensemble cast of X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and he mentioned Alan Cumming (who played Nightcrawler in 2003's X2: X-Men United) as one of the actors in the film. Many took it as a slip that we'll be seeing a return from Nightcrawler in the Bryan Singer-directed "inbetweenquel". However, we have now heard from Cumming himself on the report, and in an interview with Sirius XM, he says that he hasn't heard anything about reprising the fan favorite role. And even if he is offered a role in the movie, it doesn't look like he would be able to return. "No, they haven’t [asked me to return]. Someone asked me that the other day and I said no. I know the one that’s coming up shoots this Spring, but I wouldn’t be available anyways. I dont think they have. I was gonna meet my manager for dinner later, I was gonna ask him, but no, I’m sure they would’ve told me, had they approached." Are you disappointed that we likely won't see Nightcrawler in the next X-Men?
X-Men: Days Of Future Past stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult and Omar Sy. The film is set to hit theaters July 18th, 2014.
