EDITORIAL: No More Mutants?

It's not Wanda this time. It's Joe Quesada and Disney. It looks like the quarrel over the rights of the X-men will end in NO X-Men. What's worse than Sentinels? Disney vs Fox!

As Readers, we thought that the Marvel Universe would be destroyed by Galactus or Thanos. Well, it looks like Joe Quesada may be beating them to the punch.  In the past months, we have glimpsed some of the upcoming changes at Marvel.  Falcon is to become the new Captain America. Thor will no longer be Thor, and the Inhumans will be taking a bigger spotlight.

See anything missing?

With all of these changes, isn't odd that the X-men haven't been mentioned in any of them, of the Fantastic 4? Well they have mentioned Wolverine dying. In the most recent issue of Wolverine and the X-men. It was said that the only thing that kept the school running was everyone fearing Wolverine. It looks like it won't be running much longer.

So, what does Marvel look like without the X-men?  Furthermore, what does Marvel look like without Steve Rogers, Thor, Johnny Blaze, The Fantastic Four, and the X-men?  Does the 616 come near to resembling what we know of it?

It is obvious that Joe Quesada and Disney have no allegiances to the fans that kept Marvel alive for so long. They are more interested in making Marvel in the image of Disney, who dictates pop culture.
There are plenty of comic readers who will tell you, this kind of thing happens frequently and things will revert.  I say "NAY!" Disney wants to create Marvel in its own image.

So taking the place of the mutants seem to be the Inhumans.  That's why over the course of the year they have leaped from obscurity into the evolution spotlight.  I don't know if you have been reading what's been going on with the Inhumans but I will tell you this much, if you hated Beak, wait until you see Fiona.  Marvel.com states "IN THE AFTERMATH OF INFINITY, THE NEXT STAGE OF EVOLUTION FOR THE MARVEL UNIVERSE BEGINS!" with a picture of Blackbolt to refer to Inhumanity.  I have seen these new Inhumans and not many of them are very impressive.

A big key in this destruction of the X-men is FOX.  If you have noticed since the release of "Days of Future Past" there hasn't been merchandise for it. Disney refuses to support Fox. If Fox isn't going to give the rights back to Disney then they will not benefit from Marvel's merchandise. Now, that means comics too.

I'm sure in a room somewhere near Joe Quesada, someone said, "So what changes are we going to make in the X-men", and Joe, the asshole he is, said "Kill them." Disney is the worst thing that ever happened to Marvel and over the next year the readers will not be able to recognize Marvel at all.

I believe this will alienated even the most loyal of readers in an age where kids are more focused on mulitimedia, than they are books of any nature. This has the potential to destroy the House Lee Built, Marvel Comics.

The death of Wolverine and Axis, could be the end of the X-men. Theses are rumors though.  Tell me what you think!  For more info check out this article from Comic Planet Culture:

Just Speculation, The real Thor will come back in the comics, so will Steve Rogers....The MCU has been releasing great movies, and I do hope they focus on the Inhumans more in the comics, can't wait to see Inhumans come to the big screen and the MCU

Dude this is total bitching, Marvel wouldn't have their most trusted writer running the X-Books if they wanted to rid of them.

Now it's X-men

I don't see spiderman up there, so I guess ppl are going to start saying Marvel is getting rid of him too lol

What a joke! I think people overestimate the power that Disney has or asserts as far as comic books go. There's not really any proof that Disney is behind the changes in Marvel Comics. Disney was more interested in the lucrativeness of the MCU and not the comics themselves (hence why they didn't purchase them until after they saw how successful the Avengers would be).

Furthermore, it's a little ridiculous to say that Disney purchasing Marvel is a bad thing, let alone, "the worst thing that ever happened to Marvel" as you put it. Disney hasn't had a ton of recent success producing big live action blockbuster type movies (i.e. Lone Ranger, John Carter), thus they've proved more than willing to bank roll the established properties like Marvel and Star Wars. Disney will throw whatever money necessary into Star Wars and the MCU. Marvel being bought from Disney is like handing Feige a blank check.

I put it in the editorial section. I was hoping to get people's insights on the subject. Sorry of mislabeling it. Here is the excerpt from the CBR Forum
"Get ready to say goodbye to the X-Men.
Most of you reading this will initially react to what i have to say with skepticism. I'm a brand new poster with no posts. That's understandable. But i can only assure you that what i have to say in at this time and present is 100% true and will happen. I obviously can't release my sources but it's actually become an open secret within the marvel offices, and many are NOT happy. There have been a few leaks by various ''in the know'' people who work at marvel within the community and on personal blogs over the last few days. Don't be surprised when other sites/blogs start to come forward with more information soon. Obviously, these leaks on personal blogs have been redacted very quickly. Onto the dire news:

Marvel WILL be rebooting their entire line next summer, and they will be rebooting it without the X-Men. Without mutants at all. This includes Wolverine, Storm & Cyclops. Every mutant is gone. However, The Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver will be reintroduced as Inhumans. Although this won't apply to any other X-Men related characters. Currently unsure what will happen with Namor. It's currently unknown if any of the X-Men will ever return to the comics, but if they do it won't be for quite a while.

The X-Men as we know them will cease to exist by the end of Axis. Whatever this means, the end result is that the X-Men are finished. For the second time in 3 years the Avengers office will be hijacking what's going on in the X-Books to further their own stories, and once again Cyclops, as the face of the X-Men, will be portrayed as a villain. They're having him go full Magneto and he will die at the end of the event in shame. Bendis is NOT happy about having his stories hijacked by the higher ups, but he's going to be documenting Cyclops decent into insanity in the post ''Will'' issues of Uncanny so his characterization in Axis fits. Once Cyclops dies and with Wolverine also dead the X-Men will be reunited under Havok's leadership for a few short weeks in real time until the reboot, where all X-Books will be cancelled. The idea is, with Cyclops dead and buried, Marvel no longer have to worry about their ''mutant problem''. I can also confirm that the Scarlet Witch is the ''hero'' of Axis.

I know it sounds too crazy to be true, but i assure you it all is. There are clues for those who know what to look for ''out there'' already. I will update this thread as myself am updated."

And besides, we all know that the worst thing to ever happen to Marvel was when they decided to let Singer use the X-Men to entertain his leather fetish.

DeusExSponge - 8/20/2014, 2:58 PM
Well I think it's just Marvel banking on the MCU right now. Casual consumers will buy these comics because most of the MCU Avengers are on the cover and that will peak their interest.

Once again, I'm sorry for ACCIDENTALLY, putting this in news, I moved it to Editorials. I'm glad everyone thinks it is ludicrous. The X-men have been the only reason I read comics. The Inhumans aren't not a worthy replacement for me. I think what was said was plausible and wanted feed back on it.

As someone who never really cared about the X-Men and also as someone who doesn't read much modern comics (I much prefer the Golden/Silver/Bronze age), I'm completely indifferent about it.

I also don't buy it for a second.

I totally agree that Disney is one of the worst things to ever happen to Marvel. Ever since they got control of Marvel and Marvel NOW! began, they have been changing everything (from comics to games to animation) to be exactly like the MCU. As a long time fan who grew up with Marvel and DC, I am NOT OK with this and find it totally believable that they're ready to get rid of the X-Men all together. The only thing Disney seems to have benefited is the movies and live action TV.

Never was a Xmen comic fan that much. I read events to keep up with 616, but the whinning, boo-hooing,"O, poor mutant me" bullshit got old years ago. It does sorta suck that Fox seems to be turning it around but i dont blame Disney one bit. I'll bet they have made offers, nice offers, and Fox didnt take them(no obligation on their part). In equal fairness, Disney has 1000s of Marvel heroes to chose from and has shevled characters before for decades. I would Zap them out of existence and leave them in limbo till Fox gives...

Sorry, sucks for xmen fans big time....but business is played to win...Disney is basically saying "Take your mutants and choke on them"

I think Marvel would possibly put these characters in the back burner for the character that they ae displaying in the movies. I highly doubt they will be canceling one of there biggest comic money-makers in X-men.

I mean Disney is [frick]ing stupid in this. Fox will continue to make money off of X-Men movies with or without Disney's support. Unfortunately, the fans get screwed because now Marvel's best team is being cut out of video games, comics, etc. all because Disney is full of a bunch of pricks.

@YoungThanos "So why is Sony.."

That begs a bigger question. Both Cap2 and GotG came in at about 170m to make with abotu 100m to market...ASM2 was reported by deadline at 255m w/ 180m marketing...DoFP around the same.... Also subtract whatever Marvel/Disney takes off the top. In all fairness, kt might be very difficult to continue to make money for both studios. Throw in Marvel get discounted in house Mouse perks, and that hits the bottom line. We can spare that "who made more money" debate (or lack thereof) but some studios may stop doing this because the dollars overall could get better return elsewhere.

I actually like Sam Wilson as Captain America and i don't mind it.

I'm really not sure what to think. I don't mind FOX keeping the X-men and it's universe but at the same time i would not mind if Marvel had the rights back. I wonder if mutants where to be in the MCU would it convoluted it's universe.
