For those Cyclops fans, myself included, hoping to see Cyclops' death in
X-Men: Days of Future Past undone as part of Bryan Singer's "fix sh*t" approach to what was broken in the prior movies, you may be disappointed by what actor James Marsden had to say about those rumors claming he was spotted leaving with Halle Berry for a flight to Canada to film for the next X-movie...
"No, no X-Men, unfortunately. But who knows? If this next film really works, Bryan [Singer] has said he wants to fix a few things, so hopefully that's one of them. It was great, to have a movie like that, the first two or three X-Men, and the studios in Hollywood work really hard to find a formula that's successful, and you want to keep that intact, so ... "
As for whether or not he has seen
The Wolverine, Marsden says,
"No, I haven't seen it yet, just the trailer ... but I hope that lays the ground for more. We'll see. I always liked Cyclops, but they have a lot of characters that they have to parcel out, spend time with each one, make sure everyone feels like they've been given their due, introduce them appropriately, but you could do a spinoff of every one of those characters and give them so much depth to the story line."
If true, it's a shame that the possibility of redeeming Cyclops' off-screen disintegration won't take place in
X-Men: Days of Future Past. Then again, filming is supposed to last on the movie for another month or two and films have reshoots all the time (look at the last-minute ending change for
X2 in 2003, which was filmed in March -- two months before the film opened!), so the odds of having Cyclops come back aren't COMPLETELY unlikely, right?
