James McAvoy claims "Fun and money" were part of what attracted him to X-Men:First Class.

The Daily Record had the opportunity to speak with the star of the upcoming film X-Men:First Class recently about his career and family. Once again, it was inevitable that questions arise concerning First Class.

On what attracted him to portray Xavier in X-Men:First Class...

"Fun and money. Those are two very valid reasons I'd say. Also, I was a fan of the cartoon when I was a kid, and a fan of the original X-Men movies.

"The first and second were fantastic, so it was a really good opportunity and, I'm also a fan of Patrick Stewart from Star Trek and everything else, so to get to play the young version of him in X-Men was quite exciting as well, I have to say.

"But also, to have the opportunity to redefine it, and change everything and change the character and make him a very different person was great.

"He's at a much younger stage in his life, so he's clearly going to be a very different man."

No mention of how Xavier was a sexless monk? I'm surprised.... Anywho, I'm really looking forward to this movie.

This is for the trolls who continue to hate this movie before seeing it, give it a rest its bordering on pathetic!

I'm not saying it will be good, I'm just saying shut the F*ck up until it comes out!

I have to agree with Brashlight. Hilarious picture by the way, man! What's the point in criticizing a movie before it has even been released? For me, this movie looks INCREDIBLY AMAZING, and I'm always interested in origin stories. So yeah, I'll give it a shot.

Good for him, it's always about the money so it's nice to hear someone actually admit it.

I don't really have an opinion on this film. From what I've seen, it looks like I can take or leave it. I do however, think that all of you who are "praising" this film before it even comes out are being a little ridiculous by saying anyone bashing it is being ridiculous. 6 of 1 or a half dozen of the other. It adds up to the same thing.

If you stand by your right to praise the damn thing, then by all means, others have the right to see it in a much less favorable light. Maybe everyone should get just a little less excited with their comments.

McAvoy, Fassbender, Bacon, Vaughn, Singer. What more reason do you need to convince you that this movie will be great? Haha jk I don't want to jinx this movie anymore than it already has, but from what I've seen and read they seem to be doing a good job. Yeah it sucks that it's not the actual first class, but I'm sure Cyclops, Jean, and Storm will show up in the sequel, unless Fox wants to screw up it's continuity again.

Yep, I remember those cartoons back in the 90s. 5 glorious seasons. How can a kids show capture X-men so accurately and make it celebrated. Yet the movies are forgotten, and half of them left a bad taste in peoples' mouth.

@Brashlight and blue18, Nicely done, ye got your opinions across without anger and didn't lower yourselves to the level of insulting people that you haven't met directly. Been reading comics for 20 years and watching CBMs for as long as I can remember, I'll watch the movie and then have an opinion.
@darkmatter, Its not an educated opinion its an educated guess, an opinion needs to have a basis in fact (i.e. the completed movie), not advertising.

Could everyone just get over themselves and actually just talk about comic book movies instead of acting like 5 year old children who don't get what they want when someone disagrees with them. Is this the way ye act in real life, seriously? Reply to this as ye see fit but I will only respond to those who want to have a real conversation and not a competition to see who is the biggest a$$h0le.

Hawks@ I actually agree with your statement. I'm at an impasse with this movie; I don't have an opinion either way until I see it.

"Maybe everyone should get just a little less excited with their comments."

I couldn't have said it better myself, honestly that is the best way to put it. It’s just the constant negativity is getting old to me. It’s ok to be angry at first about something but to let it drag on as long as they are, that is what’s getting old!

Darkmatter@ I guess I should reply seeing as you took the time to piss and moan for a paragraph, I actually am neutral on this movie because I haven't seen enough. I usually do have strong opinions based on what I have seen I just don't for this movie because there isn't enough to make one on. By no means am I on a high horse it just gets iritating when people can't let go of their [female dog]ing. Its ok to be pissed about something but eventually you should get over it and move on. That is all I am saying. And if you are going to attack someones character at least have a little more to go on than my avatar, thats kind of a pathetic attempt at bashing.

Darkmatter@ I don't take things personal especailly on this site, if i did i would be one pissed off individual lol. I am just tired of people getting so worked up over this movie, i get it the first time but to bring it up over and over and over and over again is starting to get annoying. Thats all i am saying, but i will agree that the people that are now freaking out just because of a quick trailer a no better, I just think with this specific movie we all need to just wait and see. GL and Cap and Thor are different because the companies making those movies have a better track record so it is ok to be happy or mad about them.

m2prod@ sure man, its all yours!

I'm not sure Darkmatter knows the difference between posting an opinion about something and trolling.

Saying "I don't think this movie is going to be any good because Fox has yet to put out a good comic book movie" is one thing. Posting a picture of a failboat is trolling. ESPECIALLY since this article wasn't about whether or not the movie would be good, but was just posting news about a recent interview. Maybe try offering something insightful about the article itself, even it's something negative.

Then again, from what I've seen, insightful and Darkmatter are like oxymorons.

I eagerly await this movie. In the beginning I was really at a loss as to how the continuity would flow from First Class to X-men. Now I jus want to see the movie for what it is.

AND I LOVE BRASHLIGHT'S AVATAR!!! Hey Brash, any chance of another Beil-Bomb?

@ MovieTheaterLad...You noticed it too did you? If something offends me, I'll just stay clear of it. The same people who female-dog about this movie, constantly post over & over how much they h8 the idea of this movie. Heck some even post articles about it. If u hate the movie & Fox so much, let some1 else post the articles. Me, I'm not to really happy about the characters being used & the seemingly messed up continuity, but I won't go as far as to say Frick Fox...Hey, they gave me the original Star Wars Trilogy...I can never h8 Fox for that.

some of his answers seem to be said by a hater on any random site.

Or if he wanted to create some polemic on the fans....

Im not sure if I believe this interview, to be honest.
