Singer Talks (Even More) About X-Men: First Class

Bryan Singer said last week his new X-Men adaption First Class, would show "the formative years of Xavier and Magneto". You'd think could replace the origins Magneto movie, but it seems that's not the case.

X-Men director Singer admmitted: "This story would probably utilise some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto, so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust."

The X-Men Origins: Magneto screenplay for the spin off mutant, the two men first meet in Israel.

Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision, talked to Singer and he explained why he had decided to return to the X-franchise: "It started with a conversation between (Fox co-chairman) Tom Rothman and me some time ago. We not only concluded a deal, but I've written a pretty concise treatment. There's a story that I really want to tell.

"It's basically about the formation of the X-Men. How they began and the relationship between a young Xavier and a young Magneto.

"It's been about 10 years since the first X-Men, and this is a nice opportunity to look back at the origins of that universe. The X-Men universe is boundless. These are great characters. And as young characters, they are quite different than the characters we have seen in the contemporary movies."

Choosing the writer Jamie Moss, Singer said: "He's a really good writer, and of the writers I met with, he interpreted my story the best and brought the most to it.

"Because I'm so actively involved in the script development of my movies, I'm very hands-on, I need a certain kind of writer and a certain kind of availability to me. And he fitted that bill. He's quite talented."

Singer will be first directing the remake of "Jack the Giant Killer."

Many thanks to Heat Vision and the whole article is below on the link.

LEEE777 - Man I remember saying all those months ago Singer should go back to where he belongs, the X-Universe and leave Supes alone. Well looks like some of us are getting our wish. Hopefully he'll keep to the original five and leave Storm out. It'll work. The X-Men surely need to be saved from "Last Stand" and if they're not doing an "X4" anytime soon, this is the next best thing. Hey, he's involved in an "Excalibur" movie project too, but no not the Marvel one mores the pity, anyway thoughts below.
