Corey Stoll Explains His 'Yellowjacket' Suit In ANT-MAN

The design may still be a work-in-progress, but Corey Stoll has described how his Ant-Man villain will look in the movie and vaguely what he'll be capable of doing, at least compared to the titular hero!

Now that all the hype from San Diego Comic-Con has died down a bit, I've manage to pick up on quite a few interesting interviews that were overlooked last weekend. In one of them, Corey Stoll talks with Nerd Repository about his Ant-Man role as Darren Cross, who The Strain actor has said is a protégé of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) before taking over his company, Pym Particles, and becoming the Yellowjacket. “I’ve had several costume fittings and it’s looking amazing,” said Stoll of his high-tech villain suit in the movie. “It’s still in flux, they’re still figuring out exactly how it’s going to look, but it’s going to be awesome. In the comic books, Yellowjacket was an incarnation of Henry Pym, and he sort of did some ethically duteous things as Yellowjacket. In this story, Darren Cross, who was in the comic books but was not Yellowjacket in the comic books, he has a suit that is sort of the next generation of Ant-Man’s suit. It can do everything that Ant-Man can do, but more. It’s more badass, more militaristic, sleeker… sort of like if Apple had designed a battle suit. I just think the battles and the stuff that we're going to do is gonna be so cool.” In addition to what Corey Stoll has explained, previous Ant-Man rumors, which now appear to be legit, had revealed that Yellowjacket will be yellow and black in color (obviously), and he will also have a tendril-looking apparatus coming off of his back. What do you think?

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, David Dastmalchian, and Michael Pena, and  the film is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015

I'm sure they can make a "dope ass" Ant-man movie but it sure ain't this one

So far this film sounds like the opposite of 'dope'.

I have faith in this film and I think it's going to be dope, but... That's the exact same thing that happened in Iron Man.

It's not the heist film, director, or script similarities with Iron Man that are "worrying". Not at all.

It's really the unnecessary raping of source material, particularly Janet and Hank and then making the film about "Hope" and Lang. -- I could probably live with Darren Cross as Yellowjacket if they hadn't [frick]ed up two of the most important characters and founding members of the Avengers.

Yeah... No excitement, anticipation, nothing for this film. It has nothing to do with the director and cast, it's just the deviations are overwhelmingly irritating.

They can but make a dope one but... pfft. Of course Pym being a far more morally questionable character with mental health issues that could go through one of the greatest character arcs in the entire Cinematic Universe and be a stand out in the Avengers in terms of character and ideology is nowhere near as fascinating as... this.

@TheRealRemyLebeau At this point I don't think anyone has the right to say this movie can't work. But don't act as if the deviations is what will make this movie successful. Old Man Pym for the win? Give me a break.

I stuck up for Taylor and I've liked some of Wright's movies but I honestly fail to see how the evil company is to blame based on the information I personally have been privy to.

Yeah I love Hank Pymm and wish he was Antman, but I have faith in Marvel and I'm sure the MCU version of the character is going to be fantastic.

But I'll stop wasting my breath on this site. Haters gonna hate.

Pym not creating Ultron is almost as bad as omitting Uncle Ben from Spider-Man's origin in my opinion.

@Doopie

You are right. Drastic source deviations will not render it a bad film however fans of the character will not be able to look past that.

If Apple designed a battle-suit... That sounds horrible.

Following the logic on this thread alone, The Fantatsic Four should be one of the most anticipated CBM's ever.

An Apple battlesuit... I get flashes of the Robocop (2014) suit except with a white-grey colour, shine and with the logo lighten up on the chest.

Here is to hoping this film is delayed, rewritten and recasted.
