Kevin Feige Talks More About That Surprise ANT-MAN Cameo And Ties To CIVIL WAR

Kevin Feige talks here about the surprise cameo in Ant-Man (well, it'll only be a "surprise" if you haven't watched any of the TV spots), and reveals that there's an Easter Egg in the movie which offers up some big hints about what's to come in Captain America: Civil War...

In Ant-Man, Anthony Mackie makes a susprise appearace as The Falcon, a clever way of tying the movie into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (and specifically Captain America: Civil War). Talking to Fandango, Kevin Feige had this to say about how the scene was conceived. "That came about in a really natural way, and it was actually the idea of Paul Rudd and Adam McKay. Peyton Reed had pointed out that in heist films, there’s usually a preheist. There’s usually a little adventure mission the characters need to go on before the primary heist – to get a tool, or get a device." That "preheist" involved Scott Lang breaking into what he think is an old Stark Facility, but...well, it's far from it! In reality, Hank Pym inadvertently sends him to the Avengers Facility!

"I said that would be cool, and not only that but I also told them we were introducing a whole new Avengers facility at the end of Age of Ultron. So not only could they encounter the Falcon, but it would make sense if he had to go to what he believed was an old Stark facility and was unaware it had now become a major Avengers facility. It sort of naturally spiraled like that." Feige then goes on to confirm that there were never any plans to introduce any additional Avengers, and that Falcon was always their first choice. He also warns fans that they should keep their eyes peeled during this sequence. "If you were to freeze the frame when Ant-Man is flying over the Avengers facility, there are new landmarks and buildings in that frame that you won’t see until Captain America: Civil War..." I'll see this, but I don't realy care about Ant-Man.

Anyway, I think the D-23 is in August. Please, Marvel, I want a Dr.Strange concept-art and a Civil War trailer.

Less than 24 hours left for me. This is one of the things I love about the MCU: crossovers.

Looks like it will be another classic Marvel-formula-flick, so nothing really suprising, but still wanna watch it.

Not exactly. It's still going to be the light-hearted goofiness that the two previous phases were. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Pixar is also light-hearted and goofy, but they also are deep and creative as well.
