Sounds Like ANT-MAN Reshoots Are Taking 'Scott Lang' Back To His Criminal Roots

You may recall that Marvel recently changed the Ant-Man synopsis to transform Scott Lang from a "con-man" into a "master-thief", but it's now being reported that some of the plot points they wanted to cut from Edgar Wright's draft have been reintroduced during reshoots...

According to Badass Digest, Ant-Man has undergone a few key changes during reshoots which have brought the movie back closer to where it was when Edgar Wright was still attached to write and direct. Now, Scott Lang is expected to be more of a crook when the movie kicks off, similar to his comic book counterpart. The change in description from "con-man" to "master thief" in the updated synopsis really bothered some fans, so this should come as welcome news. The site theorises that the success of Guardians of the Galaxy might have had something to do with Marvel now feeling comfortable reintroducing these roguish aspects of Scott's personality. Latino-Review's @umbertogonzalez meanwhile adds that, "[One] of the things I heard is that they're making Scott a criminal again with these reshoots - putting back the plot point they originally demanded be cut from Edgar Wright's draft." Costume looks cheesy. Even ATOM's bungie cord suit's better. Looking forward to the "macro" shots though.

So they told Wright to rewrite or else, even hired hacks to rewrite his script than decide Wright was correct all along!

I'm cool with this news. Just goes to show that everyone has to undergo reshoots to make the quality of their film making that much more appealing. In Ant-Man's case they're actually doing it to stay more in tuned with Lang's comic book counterparts. It's hard to believe that Marvel would want to cut out something traditional to their character's personality. Glad they made changes for the best. Looking forward to it.

If they're putting back scenes that were originally written by Edgar Wright then why the hell did they have to go through all that BS with him then?! Dammit it all!!!!

Of all the things that had to happen....

This almost feels like a shot a Wrights script.

"oh, we don't like it rewrite it".

Much later

"Aww [frick] it we'll use it anyway. It goes well with the story."

Yeah, lets kick Wright (without whom there wasn't any Ant-Man movie at all) out because We decided to change his script at the last minute and then get back to his script.

Genius!!!!!

So he was a master THIEF, but not a criminal?
What's the difference?
I guess he was a thief who had never been caught and convicted, or something.

It sounds like just semantics.

FauxReign- "Costume looks cheesy. Even ATOM's bungie cord suit's better. Looking forward to the "macro" shots though."

i think it looks cheesy because it is the original costume that pym wore in the 60s/70s, just look at how cool yellowjacket looks i imagine at some point he will get a modern version of the suit maybe even the yellowjacket suit itself.

If you really believe the script is going back exactly to what is was then you are really naive.

Master chief and con-man at the end are both criminals. And Reed and Rudd changed more than just the beginning of the movie

you know it says they are putting one scene back into the film, not all of wrights script and by the way from what ive heard in interviews a majority of the new script is still wrights material.

I mean now when you think about it, they may just change a few scenes where they say "master thief" and switch it to "con man" LOL

@Jeight
The irony is hilarious isnt it? They'll pretend that when MS wanted the Wright script updated all his stuff got cut when we still have:
-Old pym
-scott is the mcu ant-man
-wasp is dead
-rudd and douglas are still around etc.
Also I keep laughing how people that are mad Wright isnt involved are complaining about comedy (have they even seen his films??) are also excited for deadpool whos most famous for his bizzare antics and trademark mouth/humour.

Makes sense if it really is Pym's old costume, which I hope it is. Maybe he'll get an upgraded costume, closer to YJ's later on? And if Pym turns out to be the big baddie in this one, then I'm all for it. As always, Marvel delivers big!

Yeah, I was sensing by the trailer that the way Paul Rudd was playing with the comedy that he wasn't coming off suave enough to be a 'master thief'. So not surprised that they are reinforcing the petty criminal aspects of his character. But if they are changing it back I wonder how that effects a possible credit to Edgar.

Isn't it amazing how some people take every chance to bash the company they hate?
They're changing one part of the movie and suddenly is the same movie Wright wanted to make.
